He's a Sonics super fan, something about him makes it seem like he doesn't see himself different from anyone of us and that's hella cool.

If anything, it should be US buying him a beer!

This guy is already my favorite owner in this city, and he doesn't even own a team yet.

That is awesome right there! Hansen is the man!

And the Mariners just continue to disappoint and piss people off:

Aaron Levine‏@AaronQ13Fox

Letter from SODO maritime/business groups including #Mariners: "We believe the MOU’s pre-selection (of SODO arena site) will prejudice...

Aaron Levine‏@AaronQ13Fox

...the thoroughness and credibility of the EIS’ alternative site location, will taint its adequacy... ...

Aaron Levine‏@AaronQ13Fox

and constitutes an impermissible “action” taken without SEPA review."

#Mariners say they signed on as members of the broader coalition, and that Dave Gering and Jordan Royer have taken lead on the issue.

I was all set to say whatever to these clowns and root for the players, but the front office just continues to make that impossible

That is the final straw for me. The mariners, I am thru with them.

They are typical Seattle. They epitimize all that is bad about this city. A typical can't do attitude that permeates government and a resistance to change that flows through its citizens. Satisfied with the status quo and fearful of an uncertain future.

Seattle Mariners... You are all that I hate about the city I love so much.

Mariners could go to the world series and I won't care, count me out as a supporter, I feel bad for the players that have to play within that crap organization, hope one day they find their ways out of it.

Well I'm glad Hansen is doing what he is doing, but the gloating the City is doing makes me sick, getting Hansen to fork over another 47 million and pay for partial renovation of the Key in addition to what he will do with it as a temperary home for the Sonics and the 40 million for traffic and to read an artical by the port saying we appreciate it but we can't see 40 million doing anything for improvements.

I don't see anyone else contributing anything, they SAY the port and others are suppose to put money into this fund, I guess we will see.

The Mariners backstabbing the hand that feeds them is gonna comeback and haunt them, not all Baseball fans are Basketball fans, nor are they all Hockey fans, but I would wager a larger percentage are fans of either sport or both. The Mariners will again at some point ask for money from all of us and the City for renovations :) How do you think they will respond to saying well Hansen ponied up 65 percent or more plus we want a fund set aside for area improvement.

Can we please get a new local ownership for the Mariners too? I mean this is unreal for them to do this.

One more way the Mariners let people down.

They are really scared shitless that with more places to spend your sports entertainment dollar, that they will have to invest and become a winning organization or be the fourth most (oops, forgot the Soccer team) fifth most popular team in the City.

They have been doing the minimum to retain fans for a long time, competition worries them.

its sad that a farm team is trying to stop your local residents from enjoying world class basketball and hockey because they cannot put a competent team together for what they believe to be a cost effective investment for entertainment and a return in sales profits. i watched them play my blue jays last night...both teams were terrible.

too bad felix hernandez doesn't like the basketball, he is pretty much the only bargaining chip the mariners have to listen too

lol Did Burgess just give a quick little jab at the Mariners?

http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/ ... ic13m.html

Quote:
In a meeting with The Seattle Times editorial board Tuesday to explain the revised agreement, Burgess was asked about the Mariners' opposition to the Sodo location for a new arena.

"I'm not holding my breath that they'll suddenly embrace competition next door," Burgess said.

Saw someone post this link on Twitter: http://www.facebook.com/MarkCubanMariners

And an interesting post: Mariners owner Hiroshi Yamauchi has never attended a Mariners game.

Funny it's the Hockey team that would be the primary competition with the Mariners, yet nobody has any idea how and when we will get a team here.

I really cannot fathom how an organization who's stadium the VOTERS opposed, but got it anyway with 80% public funds can bitch about a privately-funded stadium being built. It just defies all rationality.

God I hate the Mariners. How can they not realize how bad they are making themselves look? This has to be one of THE STUPIDEST franchises in sports history.

If they had a clue on anything you would think after ten years they would figure out that the run with Lou and Pat is over now?

YAY SONICS THREAD.

Chris Hansen is a pretty exceptional guy. Talking to him you would have no idea he was that fucking rich (and he is, that fucking rich). From talking to him a few months back he seemed to think that getting a new franchise was a serious possibility in 3 years (if no one moved). This guy is in it for the long haul and loves Seattle.

I'm glad they have portrayed him the same way in the media as my brief interactions with him.
