From PFT granted but would they say this about anyone else.

"Despite two interceptions, Colts quarterback Andrew Luck was nonetheless impressive in victory, completing 32-of-49 passes for 312 yards and a touchdown. He also rushed for a 13-yard score, which gave Indianapolis a 20-6 lead with 8:56 left in regulation."

Wilson's has had a few fumbling gaffs on our side of the field and we still love the guy.

Interceptions are not the same, also WE is not writers praising a guy. If Wilson had thrown two picks they would not label his day impressive.

Yeah, but we don't try and say he had a fantastic day no matter what happens every friggin' game.

The colts could lose the rest of the games all year but if Luck got a bunch of useless stats doing it the media would continue drooling over him nonstop. That's why people don't like the guy.

I understand there is a very straight forward case to be made for a double standard being applied between Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck. However, when we make posts in favor of Russell Wilson, we are writers praising a guy. The difference is our words are read by a much smaller number of people and we aren't receiving money for our efforts. If we rightfully maintain our high opinion of RW's play despite his few but still occasionally horrendous errors, why should another writer be expected to not behave that way toward Luck? There very well could be a double standard being applied between RW and Luck, but there's also a double standard being applied to professional content and amateur content.

The PFT writer didn't say he had a fantastic day. He said he was impressive and he prefaced his praise of Luck by mentioning the two interceptions first. After RW's very first game against AZ some of our comments could have been paraphrased in the same format as the quote from the PFT writer and read as "Despite struggling throughout of the game, RW was nonetheless impressive in his ability to nearly lead a last minute comeback in his very first start." After our offensive struggles against Carolina and St. Louis, we could be paraphrased as saying "Despite a poor stat-line, RW was nonetheless impressive in his ability to avoid most of the constant pressure, avoid making big mistakes, and ultimately contribute enough plays for his team to win the game." You see a professional writer forgetting his objectivity/journalistic integrity when he is more-so simply a writer expressing his thoughts with the good fortune of making a living by expressing those thoughts. If we want a higher standard for his content, that's fantastic and I'm all for it under the sole condition that we also apply the same standard to ourselves.

Your comparing Wilsons first road game against a game for Luck after three years in the league?

If our forum members were indeed not occasionally attempting to sway opinion, we would have a lot less argument. You say he's pushing business but his business is his writing. Thus, he is pushing his writing just as we are every time we we clicked the "Submit" button.

Not the same, we write opinions that are not paid for and bet on and getting advertising revenue as well as Fantasy business revenue for spreads.

Also if you didn't have posters stating opinions like you are right now in attempting to sway to your point of view this board would not exist nor any others or in this day and age any other blogs, News feeds or twitter feeds.

I'm comparing an instance where people found reasons to be impressed despite errors in RW's play to an instance where people found reasons to be impressed despite errors in Luck's play.

I'll take Wilson's wins over Lucks stats any day. The only stat that matters at all are wins.

Comparing a rookie QB in a road game in a almost come from behind victory where you see the possibilities of growth versus that of a 3 yr vet that was a first pick of the draft making the same mistakes he made his rookie year doesn't seem like a realistic comparison.

He should have had two MORE interceptions, he got away with some bad throws that he didn't have to pay the piper for.

Sigh.

The Red Zone broadcast began today with... "Can Andrew Luck prove he's the best QB in Football?" as one of its story lines for the day.

Journalists are supposed to be unbiased. Unfortunately, that seems to have gone by the wayside in recent years.

Fans are supposed to be biased and we are.

Comparing the two makes no sense.

Writing about sports isn't real journalism. It's about opinion and maximum sales. There isn't a high standard for sports "journalism".

24-hour cable news networks, on the other hand, are supposed to be held to a higher standard, and they generally fail miserably.
