The 49ers signed kicker Billy Cundiff on Tuesday following a tryout at the team's practice facility in Santa Clara.
According to Comcast Sports Net Bay Area, the 49ers will keep incumbent kicker David Akers and let them battle it out to see who kicks in the playoffs. The 49ers have a first-round bye and host a game at Candlestick Park Jan. 12 against an undetermined opponent.
You can't go into the playoffs with an unreliable kicker who has missed some crucial attempts. You need to go in with two of them.

except for one all pro year Cundiff has been bad to meh. Longwell played well last year and has had a better career. I want to see the 49ers in the Championship game and beat them by 7 longwell field goals while cundiff/akers go 0-4 on field goals. I doubt we let them attempt even 4 Field goals though. final score 21-0 just to show Harbaugh that he chose the wrong free agent kicker
