Vikings vs. Packers NFC wildcard matchup game thread

  • Webb will have to make a play with his arm at some point in the red zone or it'll be a lot of figgies for the Vikes.

Technically we don't know if they have a passing game yet.

This. Why pass now when the run is so effective?

    Ok....that's why they're not passing....yikes.

  • Not a bad drive. The run game may keep them in it long enough to get Web's pass bugs out.

  • Who are we really rooting for in this game? I mean, I'd rather face Atlanta in their dome than SF in Candlestick...But I'd love the chance at a home game for the NFC Championship. Anyone else? I guess I'm rooting for Minnesota to eliminate the chance at having to play GB in their stadium.

Webb's a baller, at his best when the game is close. I think the Vikes got a good shot.

Would rather play SF now and get a home game, then play the Falcons and end up playing SF in Candlestick anyways.

  • If I'm Frazier I'm getting Webb a couple of short completions off of play action at some point, although I get that the temptation to hand off every time is large.

  • I know I'm rooting for Minnesota, if we win, don't want the Redskins to have to travel out west after what is surely to be a physical game tomorrow. Plus Atlanta has a soft run defense much like Green Bay.

I almost agree with this. I trust our corners to hold Rodgers under his typical 4 TD performance.

Then again, GB may not be prepared because they prepared for Ponder instead of Webb.

  • yeah, I think starting Webb was a stroke of genius for Minnesota. Like the announcers said, these two teams are meeting for the third time since Dec. 2nd. These guys know each other inside out and I would think at Lambeau that's going to favor Rodgers and the Pack. Changing it up to Webb at the last minute and throwing in the read option has really screwed with the Packers and could be the edge the Vikings need.

Of course, if Webb throws passes like that last one, eeeeechh!

  • Unless Webb gets over his Octagon jitters in a hurry he's not looking like much of an advantage. He's scared to throw, and seeing him throw I get why.

Not so fast. good goal-line stand for the Vikes. If somehow Webb can figure out how to actually throw the ball, the vikes could still be in it.

I'm not hopeful that he will, though...
