  • If he had gone to Dallas or SF that would have sucked. Best case for Seahawks was an AFC team at a high APY so I guess this is OK .... but still.... what a great great Seahawk and it sucks he couldn't finish his career here.

    Agreed.

Football players as great as Earl don't come around very often. I'll be bummed to see him in another uniform, but I wish him nothing but the best and have nothing but gratitude for his time here in Seattle.

The good news for us is you don't get to pay players that flip off "their team" and play traitor to other teams coaches in self seeking missions to land more Bentley's.

Beyond that, looks at how his leg broke then think back what we just went through with Kam and Cliff. Between Kam's contract, and Earl's ego and injury, he really had little chance to sign here for something he'd be happy with.

  • He's right under 14 million a year, I don't think we could afford that. Great player when he's on the field but he's broken his leg 2 out of the last 3 years.

The Ravens let go one of the best LB's in the game to sign Earl so that's fine if people wanted to keep him but would you have given up Wagner?

By yearly average Mathieu and Collins are ahead of him by a quarter million. He has the highest total and percentage guaranteed at signing, which given his injury history and age is really good for him.

Top 4-5 of my all times.

Could have left a legacy that put him the same conversation as Jones, Tez, and Easley.

His style of departure will not allow that IMHO.

    REALLY SUCKS.

  • Count me in the group that loved him as a Hawk and wishes he could have been here his entire career. I was in line for a new jersey around 2012/13 and if Russ hadn't come along it would have been ET.

It feels weird right now. I had reconciled that the Hawks would lose him a long time ago....any hope I had was dashed with the one finger salute. I actually felt happy when I heard this news cause it meant the Cowboys and Niners didn't land him. Anyone else feel that way?

  • Yet again, very glad the Hawks didn't pay this type of $ for a guy. Especially coming off a broken leg etc.
I'm glad this is all done, it was clearly time to move on from him. So much better to see him NOT in the NFC, let alone our own division.

We've lost six free agents dude so no it's not +1, -1.

It will be based on how many UFA's we lose and at what price versus how many we sign and at what price.

I have a feeling that Earl is past his prime, both physically and emotionally. I think his injuries, his size, the expectations Ravens will have, and playing on a gutted defense will all turn out for the worse.

Happy he got the guaranteed money he wanted as well even though it wasn't gonna happen here. One of my favorite Seahawks ever.

I would completely disagree with this post. The Ravens already had a top defense with one of the best secondaries in the league, adding Earl might make it the best. They've improved their record ecery year since 2015 and won the division with a rookie QB last year. Lamar Jacksons passing ability is a question mark but with him and the addition of Mark Ingram, the run game should be tough to stop.
