First team all pro at guard this year and he's an FA. If there was ever a reason to cut Sherm to free up cap space, I'd place signing this guy high on that list. Our guard play was mediocre to awful the entire year. Having a stud LG would take some heat off Britt and let him concentrate on helping Ifedi/Pocic or whoever is at RG.

Brown-Norwell-Britt could be a hell of a left side. Of course, there is the Cable factor that scares me shitless. Who knows, just a thought I'm throwing out there. Would help build around Russ too.

Sounds awesome, but as you say, as long as we have Cable, I am not convinced any acquisition will help. Or at least, ROI stands to be very bad. So losing a top CB to pay top dollar to a guard for marginal improvement is probs not awesome for the team

Sounds great but would eat up a too much cap space. Probably looking at a contract near 18-20 million a year.

18-20?!? That's crazy. The highest paid guard is Keleche Osemele and he earns 11.7M APY. The market isn't getting reset that high.

Yeah probably a little high for per year but in the first year with a signing bonus it would probably be close to that.

They could spread out the singing bonus. Idk if we had 35M in cap space after taking into account the draft, IR, etc. we could do 18M?

It could be done but I feel like it goes against what the Seahawks typically do when they have the cap room available. They like to spend money on FAs in areas where they don’t need to (Lacy) and not spend enough where they need help (Joeckel).

We could sign 5 guys coming off Pro Bowls and still have a bottom 5 line with Cable. And we'll still hear the same tired outside narrative about how we don't give Cable anything to work with.

We are definitely an over priced guard from winning the super bowl

Tom Cable will turn this guy into a decent Defensive Tackle

That’s just how great of a coach he is

All-Pro guard? That will cost around eleven-ity billion dollars.

Here is a fun fact: Andrew Norwell was a Undrafted rookie free agent in 2014. The Panthers used this thing called an offensive line coach to develop cheap and effevice pass blockers. Long story short Tom Cable is horrible.

Lol, 18-20 a year.

Firstly, we don't even have that much in total cap space, and secondly, you're high.

Also their 4th round RT Darryl Williams has developed into a stud.

Keep Sherm, dump CABLE, our current line improves to at least average under a GOOD OL coach. Bam! Problem solved.

49ers figure to bid huge with their 100 mil, but we absolutely need to pull out all the stops and be in on this.
