Let's play the "if you were going to wager" on a game or games this week.

I started a thread like this last week and got several "not gonna wager in week 1" comments which I get particularly after I took KC giving 6 1/2 over SD and they ended up winning by 6 meaning I lost my imaginary bet. So now it's week 2 and maybe some folks will be more interested in participating. All of this is for fun of course.

I'm gonna go with a 2 game parlay this week. I'm taking the over in the New Orleans vs. Giants game. The over/under is 53 1/2 which seems awfully low for a game involving 2 teams that scored 13 TDs combined last year and involves the Saints' defense that gave up 35 to the Raiders last week.
I'm going to parlay that with Detroit giving the 6 points at home vs. Tennessee.

Yeah most of .NET went down with the Chiefs and Cardinals. I was in Vegas last week and had a decent week, Bears screwed me though after leading for a lot of that game.

Vikings plus whatever points will be big bet for me tomorrow. I may just pass on the points and take the plus money on the ML.

I lean towards Carolina at -13.5. I usually don't like taking spreads this high, but this is a good spot to take Carolina off the loss and big rest. Carolina on 10 days rest, while SF coming off a short week on MNF. Not to mention WestCoast team playing a 1pm EST game.

Sharps are on Miami plus the points, not sure I agree on that yet. I think it's Miami or pass.

I lean Arizona at -7. They should bounce back strong after the loss.

Rams plus points look good, but don't really feel like betting against us.

I really like Carolina too for all the reasons you mentioned. I considered a three way parlay with them on top of my other two picks.

I grew up in Vegas, lots of friends gamble seriously. Parlays are the sports book's wet dream. Pick single lines to try to take advantage of. Itemize your bets. Parlays are fool's gold.

^^^

On that note haha I've parlayed Pit -3.5 & GB -2 with a decent sized bet.

A lower parlay that would pay off like gangbusters is my Jax/TB moneyline wager.

Good to know. I'll be in Vegas in 2 weeks so will keep that in mind if I make wagers. Thanks for the advice.

Yeah parlays in general are fools gold. If you don't bet regularly, then they're fine as everyone is trying to hit the big one. If you bet all the time, then they're not even worth your time. I bet regularly and rarely ever parlay.

Browns are a joke. Going to lose the ml on them after they were up 20-0.

Minnesota +2 big for me tonight.

4-1 on leans. Ended up playing Minnesota, Carolina and Arizona, but laid off Miami and the Rams (just can't bet against my team). Had a few other bets which were hit and miss. But overall, made a killing this week. Will probably give everything back betting baseball before week 3 even starts. If you can't tell...I LOVE BETTING SPORTS.

I suck at this game, even if it is imaginary money. And, I'm going to be in Vegas weekend after next and I probably will place wagers. Maybe I'll go with some college games.

I called Scooters and told them some may come down there for the game, the lady on the phone said ya may have to be there kinda early for the 10 am game. She said about 630 or so. I am thinking there may not be seating available. So am thinking Old school brewery? Could probably see if Scooters has room and then if not, pop into the other one? Lemme know your thoughts.

If you don't bet regularly, you will get killed. No matter how much NFL you know. Choosing winners is different than point spreads. Newbies pick popular teams (Seahawks/Pats/Packers/etc). But bad teams like the Browns and Titans will cover just as much as great teams like the Pats and Panthers. Honestly, if you bet the opposite of what you think, you probably come out on top. My first year betting I lost a lot, as I bet "obvious" games. If a side looks too easy, it is usually for a reason. Vegas sets traps for us to fall into, we just need to figure out which ones they are.
