In 1999 Marshall Faulk gained 1381 yards rushing and 1048 yards receiving. In 1985 the 49er's Roger Craig had 1050 yards rushing and 1016 yards receiving. As far as I can tell, Faulk and Craig are the only two to do this. Can Harvin be the third? To do it, he would need to play all 16 games and average 63 yards rushing and receiving per game. He had 59 yards receiving and 41 rushing against GB.

Can he? Yes. Will he? No. I can easily see him getting 1000 yards receiving, but not rushing. I don't see Harvin averaging more than 5 carries a game (he had 4 against GB). With 5 carries he will need to average about 13 yards per carry to reach 1000 for the season. This seems like a tall order, even for Percy.

Has a WR ever rushed for 1000 yards? I'm pretty sure that's unheard of.

I'm pretty sure the answer is no. Catching the occasional pass is part of every starting running back's standard repertoire, taking hand-offs as a wide receiver absolutely is not.

No, but there's been a running back with 1000 rushing and 1000 receiving.

Thanks for telling us what the OP already said, Roethlisberger.

I am quietly optimistic that Harvin could potentially put together a season that puts him up for MVP consideration. I haven't heard his name in the mix but I'm thinking its a real possibility.

MVP season yes. 1000 yards rushing. No. I could see 2000 total yards though. (to include, catches, runs and returns)

2000 yards including returns would put him in the conversation. 2000 yards from scrimmage, excluding returns, would lock him in. Tall order.

Would honestly just be happy if Harvin plays in all 16 games. Anything else is a bonus.

Right, now Harvin is on pace for:

60x16= 960 Receiving Yards (career high: 967*)
40x16= 640 Receiving Yards (345*)

*both in 2011

If Percy Harvin provided 1600 yards from scrimmage that itself would be extraordinary. I pegged him for about 750/250 thinking his touches would be significantly lower in our system. Still, I wouldn't want him to get the touches to get 2000.

On a different note, Lynch is on pace to surpass 1500 rushing yards and 15 TDs. I pegged him around 1200/12.

Seems entirely possible after seeing his play during the last game.

San Diego has a slower def then GB , may be overly optimistic after the next game too.

The more they focus on him ,then the more space for everyone else, It seems.

On pace? Lol. It's been one game.

I think his usage from Week 1 is at the upper end of what you're likely to see on a weekly basis. Teams will continue to key-in on him. I don't expect him to put up gaudy numbers here; certainly not more than he put up in Minny when he and AP were the only offense. Like many Seahawks, his true impact will not be captured by fantasy numbers.

I think he could fall well short of 900 yards receiving and still have an MVP-type season in terms of impact.

Well, technically... but I put a realistic cap on the projected production. Either way, Seahawks might be looking at Lynch's best year ever. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if everyone important stayed healthy for Lynch to hit 1600 yards, 20 tds but I couldn't imagine PC allowing that tread on his tires.

But thing is for Lynch, as long as Harvin and Wilson are healthy, teams can't just sit there and stack 8 to 9 in the box. Lynch is going to deal with less contact and bigger holes on the regular and he'll take advantage.

Harvin's replacement, Patterson, had 102 yards on 3 carries this weekend. It's doable, but it would take an awful lot of luck (and poor tackling.)
