In a sense, he did. Peyton was afraid to throw in that direction. We could all see that. I think Sherm said that after he first hurt himself (but came back), his coverage wasn't great but Peyton still refused to throw at him. His mere presence had a huge impact. Quite literally shut off one side of the field by reputation alone. Shutdown corner.

Actually, I think Sherman's first play when he returned from the injury was when Peyton threw a go route to Thomas down the right side. Sherman was all over it and Thomas should have been flagged for OPI. I don't think Peyton threw his way again after that.

Sherman is already in his head for next year, setting him up to throw deep off double moves. People really under rate Sherman's manipulative intelligence.
