Hoge is a jackass. I've never liked the guy. He's kind of like Mussburger in the college football world in that he prefers "traditional" powers to be in charge, and the idea of Seattle getting HFA in the post-season irritated him. The big difference between Hoge and Muss is that Muss will still give less traditional programs their props, even though he'd rather see UF than UCF in a BCS Bowl. Hoge, however, does not hide his disdain for teams that have "never won anything," and Im sure he hated on the Patriots until they put together their dynasty.

He just wants to be unique in his picks.. makes him look like a "genius" in once every 100 games. So this his his opportunity to look like one.

It is what it is; athletes-turned-broadcasters aren't the sharpest types of people in many cases, and many will be swayed by silly superstitious things like a team's legacy and tradition (which are obviously real things, but have almost no predictive value).

Because it gets you talking about him. This is almost always the story with these media types. Stop talking about them, make them irrelevant, and they'll get fired.
