Item 2) under the heading "Three checkdowns"

2) One GM pointed out to me in September, when studying rosters at cut-down day, how the difference in depth between Seattle and the other 31 teams jumped off the page to him. That's a good way of explaining how the Seahawks are 10-1, despite just now getting healthy.

I agree. Remember the practice squad putting a "forty burger" on the Broncos in pre season?

The weakest depth is at offensive line and it was noticeable on game day. The left guard has no business playing tackle. The rookie right tackle was getting better every week. They were truly horrid against Houston and Saint Louis though.

On the other hand, we hardly noticed when any of the defensive starters missed games.

I think Seattle goes for another offensive tackle in the draft next year.

A lot of people are actually predicting the Seahawks taking another DE in the 1st round. No idea why but they do. We may lose a couple of our guys so that's probably the jist of it and they want to be able to cycle guys in and out at that position to keep them fresh and pass rush seems to be a big key for this organization going forward.

I would agree that we would go OT or OG in the 1st round, if the right guy came to us. Since we'll be drafting last, you could grab the guy you want in the 2nd round and it wouldn't kill your draft value. Bowie also got some playing time and with another year in the system, along with valuable game experience this year, might progress enough for us to not need to draft a guy. Hell, if he's as good as Breno next year we really won't need to.

Thing is, they may not go that way. I'm really guessing it depends on how it all shakes out in the offseason....specifically who we can and can't keep.

Bennett is on a 1 year deal. He's not going to be cheap to retain.

There are differing opinions on Browner's value, but it's possible he could cost us money. There are a good few teams out there that would give him money on a 2-3 year deal as they want to win NOW. Denver would be one if Manning doesn't hang em up after this year.

In the same vein, it's possible we can't afford Thurmond. He could get starter money somewhere else. He's played all year and stayed healthy, so the injured scare might be off. He's also young enough to garner a good contract, and he's not going to want to play behind Browner again, unless they both take 1 year deals. Simon may be the answer, or he may not. We don't know as we haven't seen him in a real game yet. Relying on an untested rookie isn't always the right plan....anyone else remember how STL drafted a bunch of weapons and all of the sudden was going to be scary on offense ? How about Tate's development ?

We're crowded on the DL. Jessee Williams is coming back, and if healthy could play a role. Hill has been injured so it's hard to tell with him. McDaniel is on a one year deal. Mebane is going to need a new deal.

We're still in position to take BPA. We could go WR, OT, OG, DT, CB. Hell we could take a developmental QB in the 4th -5th with how top heavy this draft is at QB. It all depends on how FA shakes out for us.

It's not that shocking as far as the current state of the Roster. Clem and Avril are signed for two more years. Bennett and Scholfield only on a 1 year deal. Red Bryant only has 3 million in dead money at the conclusion of this season and is signed for a couple more years. Benson Mayowa is largely an unknown and Irving is doing pretty well at LB. A guaranteed 4 year contract on a DE could be in the cards depending on the Seahawks' draft board.
