  • “I’m a realist,” Robinson said. “I knew they drafted a guy (Spencer Ware). I knew they were high on Derrick (Coleman). And I knew I needed to be on the field to keep my job. I knew what my salary was. I know the business of this game. I knew there was a big chance I’d be let go.

“Pete (Carroll, the coach) and John (Schneider, the general manager), they did a great job of communicating with me. They were very upfront when they were cutting me. We were in there talking and they said, ‘Mike, we know it’s going to come a point down the line when you’re going to be healthy and we’re probably going to need you. If the opportunity presents itself, we’re going to come get you. You’re part of the family. You’re part of us. You helped us start this thing.’

“It just felt really good to know an organization feels that strongly about you.”

That's a powerful message sent to every player on the team... and every player around the League. F.O. moves like this pay dividends down the road.

  • It really did help that Ware and Coleman were out. It would have been tougher to justify "going back for MRob" otherwise, family or not. I'm not gonna lie, though - having him back only furthers the "special season" vibes I'm getting.

  • I wasn't one of the fans that was upset when Robinson was cut because I thought his salary was out of line with his value, but now that he's back at a sustainable salary that makes sense for the team, I'm really, really happy about it. Hopefully he can stay healthy enough to finish this year and stay another year in the 2014 season. He handled his cut from the team with professionalism and wisdom.

  • Mike was just on 710 ESPN on Wyman, Mike and Moore. Good interview. Mentioned he talked to the guys a lot--talked to Marshawn almost every day. Talked about the illness. Said that Pete and John told him they'd bring him back if they could and wanted him to get healthy, and that they stayed in touch to check on him; he understood they had a business decision to make. Talked a bit about Percy.

Highly recommend checking out the podcast once it's posted.

Robinson’s main concern after getting cut this year was his health. He went all the way down to 212 pounds, was admitted to the hospital twice, and had liver and kidney concerns.

Robinson was taking a prescribed anti-inflammatory twice a day. He said he became dehydrated and had the flu, which kind of put together a “perfect storm” for him.

He went to the hospital once, then was readmitted a couple days later and said doctors told him he should have never left in the first place.

  • I love how the Doctors always say you should never have left in the first place, they are the ones that discharge you and tell you to call your primary doctor and set up a appointment with someone.

The did the same thing with my wife, then night guy came in looked at CAT scan and called us and said don't move don't get up were sending an ambulance.

Saw in an ESPN article it was league min 840k for an 8 year vet but dont recall if it was multi year on not

edit: it doesnt say how long the contract is

"But the team was able to re-sign Robinson for $840,000, the NFL minimum for a player with his experience."

It wold be awesome to see if the team names him honary captain and he gets a C on his jersey.

If not it would be cool to see Wilson or Farwell give thiers to Robinson in a heartfelt inspirational moment in which would be another reason why the Seahawks is one of the best franchises to root for this year.

  • I've seen many people say he doesnt bring much other than a youtube show. Thats insane to say. I know the fullback position isnt a key part of the offense anymore. But when he is needed, he is as good as any. And thats not even what he brings to the team. He IS a leader. Pretty much everyone in the locker room looks up to him and likes him. Ill explain it this way, in 2011 LSU had the best defense in college football, the key playmaker was Tyrann Mathieu. When he got kicked off the team, LSU returned most of that defense. But they werent the same, people said they didnt have the same "swagger" even though it was most of the same players. And in multiple interviews, Les Miles, AND the players themselves said Tyrann was a leader, he set the attitude and emotion. Even when he wasnt making plays he set the tone and everyone stepped up. It feels like MRob is that person for the Seahawks.

Probably not going to happen with Rob making the veteran min but I can tell your just playing the Skip Bayless card you do so well.

Unless Robinson's body fails, the difference between Robinson and Coleman is the same difference between Miller and Willson. And the Seahawks would be crazy to cut Robinson... you have Percy Harvin ready to rock but getting M-Rob is a much bigger morale booster than Harvin.

Seattle Seahawks, where getting back your min. wage FB is a better feeling than finally getting your 60 million WR/RB play-making extraordinaire investment onto the field.

No way Lynch let's Robinson get released once again... Lynch would probably drop kick Schnieder and punch Carroll in the mouth if it happened again.

I kind of got a vibe from Pete's interview that Coleman's hamstring was an injury so terrible it was right up there with Flynn's elbow.

  • Why would he make his wife move mid-season up to Seattle from their Arizona home? I am not sure about his kid(s) ages besides his 3 year old but if he had kids in school, it would be a bit much to have them pulled out of school for something that right now looks like a 4 month assignment. If after the season is over the team indicates to him that they want him to come to camp next year, I would expect he and his family would rent living space in the spring.

So it may be that he wanted to just work with no distractions, but I don't think any man can get away with calling his family a distraction in public and not see the hand of god strike him down. As he mentioned in his interview, he was going to talk to his wife about him staying with Marshawn. It probably was to make sure she is okay with not coming up since once shown the door, I wouldn't be so quick to move family either. It is a business and his contract is not guaranteed. He may have gotten some signing bonus but how much isn't known yet.
