I found some time to work on a new header logo idea today...I've passed it on to Management and while I await to hear from them, I thought I would toss this out there to the masses for evaluation. I am not married to it (so no you won't offend me if you don't like it) but I do think it would be awesome to go into Game 1 with an updated header graphic, especially incorporating the ubiquitous feathers that are a large part of our new uniforms.

Whether it's this design or another one, I think it would be great to have a new header graphic in time for opening day.

Thoughts?

I agree there needs to be a new logo. The one now is bad and way too 90's.

Totally awesome. My only critique would be the white square. I'd go with a plain dot or even a football shaped one. JMHS

It looks VERY cool. I'm straining hard thinking of ways to improve it, the only think I can think of is that the Hawk eye is just a little awkward, it bumps up above it's space and feels crowded behind the "N". Not sure how I'd make it better, it would be a challenge. If it was me, I'd experiment with overlaying the eye over the N, or creating more space for it. It would probably look worse but I would experiment just to see. Right now it kind of looks like it's stashed in a tiny corner behind the N in this version.

Agreed with others that the dot in .net should be a dot instead of a square.

I like it. The change I would make is to expand the bottom trapezoid to fully enclose the ".NET" and the Seahawk eye within the blue part, and then have the cool green outer edge of the bottom trapezoid unblemished. I think that would look really clean.

I think you should submit requests to all the peeps here to design the new header.

Make it a comPetition.

Hey Aros, I really like this one. But, like you I think the Hawk Eye is a little "crowded" behind the N. Maybe try to do the Hawk logo in the box behind the .NET - use it as pattern in the background. It looks like it's forced. But other then that, FANTASTICO...

I might be old fashioned and don't like change a lot, but I think what we have is really good... Why fix it? What you've come up with is good, but why change? It's not broken and doesn't look bad and worked for us so far with a team that's winning..... Just saying... :thirishdrinkers:

Looks cool. I agree about the square dot being rounded too.

I do have a suggestion though. How about fitting TWO of those eyes (opposed of course) in there, that could look badass.

But the league allows us to change every 5 years...err... :stirthepot:

I like it. Agree with the hawks above the N being too crammed. Maybe at the end, on the far right of the background thin green stripes, there could be a helmet with an eye and the .net logo on it. Just spit ballin' now. I'm not a graphics guy so typically I suck.

Go Hawks!

Is there any way to incorporate the .gif of Kam knocking Vernon Davis into the stratosphere?

It's new. Do not like.

(I do like it, especially the totem background, but the placement of the eye bugs me.)

For all you designers (and designer-wannabees), here's the .PSD file and a blank version of the "Screen Cap" to superimpose your design on for the masses to review...The .PSD is the same dimensions as the existing file at the top of the site so feel free to use the entire space.

I'm all for opening it up to anyone who wants to put their own design talent towards the new header...

Layered .PSD file...

The eye looks like it was tossed in like a bit of an afterthought, but other than that, it looks like dope on a rope (that's a good thing).

I like the design, but the font leaves a lot to be desired. I'd prefer a more ambitious and progressive font type, like Times New Roman.

I like the update, but I am afraid of change.

My very humble opinion - keep the current logo/eye, but update the Seahawks.net font. The current font makes me think of Star Trek TNG. And of course, add the feather pattern in the background. And maybe some color tweaking.

Awesome Todd! I'd like to see that same logo fade from the current gray/silver color on the helmet logo down to white on one end or the other too. I think it would look kind of "sweeping" and fast across the logo. I love it either way though. I love the eye incorporated into the N like that. Very cool.

Great work Aros! New uni's and all... Why not new header to match the change?

I am not a designer but I deal with consumer engagement and branding occasionally.

A few things,

With a logo, oftentimes less is more.

Remember that the more detailed a logo is, the harder it is going to be to be clear and easy to read at different sizes. This is important when half your audience is using mobile at some point.

Also, it become easier to print, reproduce and most importantly - remember. Complex logos sometimes tend to not have the same ability to create a 'mental hook'.

You did a great job of limiting your colors, but there are a lot of shapes that are barely placeholders and don't seem to have a special significance to the brand. Also, negative space works and is often a better idea than trying to fill space, but remember that empty space is often a good thing too.

It looks like there is stuff there just to fill space (the second eye for instance).

It is a good start, it just needs someone to go in there and clean it up, simplify it and only keep the important elements.
80/20 rule.

IMHO....the word "SEAHAWKS" ought to be slightly larger......reduce the size of "NET" slightly...making it more proportional. I'm OK with the suggested FONT change. The "HAWK eye" needs to be slightly moved.

I see reference to the number "12" didn't make the cut.

The new graphic looks too much like badging for an automotive or truck.

I think I would prefer the current header graphics on the new (feathers) back ground.

That's my only issue is that the 12th man is not represented. But other than that little complaint I think it looks great!

I agree on many levels, especially from a corporate perspective when it comes to brand but I think football forum communities are more forgiving with the added "stuff". In other words, that is not the logo I would present to a corporation that sells "green" technology. Good input all the same! Thank you!
