First things first, but I wouldn't rule it out, personally. Gotta do something between Houston and Indy.

Last question before I pull the trigger. Regarding tickets, are we solo on that of is anyone working on any type of group seating?

I am researching now. Talking to reps in Seattle and Houston. If that fails we can try to get a big block of tickets in same section via StubHub but everyone will have to buy their own. In the past both Matt and I have fronted the money for others and it can be a real pain in the ass when people back out or are slow to pay.

We will figure it out, though. For sure.

So, are y'all going to be flying in on Saturday afternoon so that we can all get together on Saturday night?

HoustonHawk:

We should DEFINITELY plan a Saturday night get together. In the past, most people have flown in on Friday afternoons and we would just make a three day weekend of it.

Others would show up on Saturday and join the crowd. To each their own, but its safe to say those of us in town will be getting together Saturday afternoon/evening/night.

Most definitely. There are numerous options for well-equipped sports bars and what we call "Ice Houses" with live music and excellent food options. There are also live "entertainment" venues that will impress, should there be interest in that sort of thing.

I am happy to organize a gathering spot which will prove worthy of the occasion. All I will need is a number of bodies and a general consensus regarding a preferred ambiance.

So...... How much are people willing to spend on a ticket for the game?

I need to get an idea of what our range is.

I'm good with what everyone else decides. Seeing as how the Colts game group tix were 61, and great group seats for the Rams is 104... I'm guessing for Houston it'd be a little bit more expensive maybe for awesome seats, like $120 (Edit: $150)? Or we could just find solid seats for cheaper, maybe around 85-90? (Cheapest available on Stubhub right now are $82.50, FYI) I'd say 85-150 is a decent expected range for people? Willing to spend more though. Like I said, whatever the group decides is cool with me. I've already got 2 friends of mine that are interested in attending as well. Should be a great crowd!

Booking this weekend.

I am willing to go $150.00. If the consensus goes hire I'm in but I think thsts a decent ceiling for good seats.

This sounds about right. I definitely low-balled on my ceiling. I've definitely paid more for decent seats haha but again, I'll pay whatever it takes!

I like these numbers, but I haven't seen a game live since the kingdome so I don't know what is realistic. I wouldn't blink at anything under a buck fifty.

This. I'm still a maybe (my work schedule fluctuates), but I'll buy a ticket for sure. Worst case scenario I can sell it to someone on here possibly.

I just wanted to get the conversation going on ticket$. It is still a bit early (unless we find a deal we LOVE). I think in 5-8 weeks' time we can talk seriously, as we see which way theirmarket trends-but I have been scouting it out and compared to other stadiums this will be a pretty expensive ticket for "good" seats.

I encourage everybody to poke around/do some research. I have been checking out StubHub and EBay and also several ticket distributors that operate through Houston's Craigslist. With an eye on rows or sections that have quantities greater than 12.

For less than $150, as of now, we are upper ring for sure.

Not that I necessarily have an issue with that-I just want to hear what others think.

My approach is utilitarian.

Unlike some other folks, airfare actually counts in the equation and as such, good seats are a must after the initial "get there, sleep there" investment.

I'll go $350 max. Though for a lot cheaper these seats are kind of interesting on stubhub..group of six, mezzanine level section 325 row D.

Having been to Reliant on numerous occasions, I can tell you that there really isn't a bad seat, unless that seat is more than the 10th row back on the upper decks. Just like the Clink, the upper deck seats are situated at a fairly steep angle and each level overhangs the one below it significantly. Thus, being in the closest seat to the front rail is the way to go.

I highly recommend the club level or below for the best possible experience, but again, don't be afraid to be in the first ten rows of the 500's or even the first five of the 600's. It's weird, but the 200 level is suites and media boxes so the second level is really the 300's, and they skip the 400's. If y'all are in the latter rows of the 100's you are not going to have as good a view as you would in the front of the 300's. Make sense? Just get as far forward as you can, and all will be kosher.

HoustonHawk: thanks for the advice. As an insider, whatever info you can share is valued.

Some additional thoughts on seating:

It would be a lot of fun to have the whole group of .NETTERS sitting together for the game, but between differing price preferences and availability/ease of purchase that might be logistically ruled out barring a group purchase through the Hoiston box office, which has not been real cooperative thus far.

I prefer to sit close to the action when on the road, but Houston is going to be a vig dollar ticket and I am already going to more games this year than I have in several years so I'd be down with the budget or the best deal.

Mostly, I'd just like to be in the stadium and watching the game with as many of you guys as possible.

What we could end up doing in July or August or whenever we are ready to pull the trigger is find a couple groups of tickets on Stub Hub that we find agreeable and at that time we can each independently go on StubHub in a coordinated effort and buy our own tickets that way. I've fronted the money for far fewer than this number of tickets in the past and, invariably, somebody backs out or waits until closer to game time to pay and the person who puts up the money up front ends up eating part of the initial investment. Who was that clown in Toronto who low balled me for the last ticket??

Anyway, we will figure it out and it will be fun and memorable.

The other option, of course, is people can do whatever the hell they want.

Again, guys, if you are traveling with others please indicate by Plus 1 or Plus 2 etc, so I can reflect that in the first post/roster tally in this thread.

It will be helpful when planning for tickets.

Thanks!

Just a heads up from NOW until Thursday at Midnight (so probably 9 PST).. Southwest is running a great deal on Fall flights. Would be a good time to book if you're headed to H-town or Indy. Or anywhere really

I am open for the price range for the seats...$150-$200 is budgetable. The main thing for me is hanging wit `cha`all.
Master Chief, I leave for SeaTac Saturday morning. If you need a ride to the airport from Arlington and a return, I am happy to offer if our schedules align. Leaving Saturday before noon, departing Sunday about 5.

I'm like 95% in, trying to get a couple local buddies talked into it, but if I have to ride alone so be it.

Game Ticket Update. Our friend from the North, .NET member 'Tommy Mack' and some of his friends in Vancouver have connections through a ticket broker they use. He has contacted them on our behalf and informed me that while we cannot get a group of tickets as large as our group (20+) together, he can obtain tickets for us in multiple groups of four in one or two adjacent sections. Ticket pricing starting at $78. I replied that, based on feedback I have received, people would. Be willing to spend up to $150 range for decent seats/decent value. As more information comes in, I will bring it here for discussion and brainstorming.

Also here is a link to a Carolina trip his group is putting together, if that interests anybody.

I'm officially in. Booked my plane tickets for back to back Houston-Indianapolis games. Let's do this.

BFS, If I could get in on a group of 4 or so with some others for $78 for a ticket, I'd be down. Houston doesn't strike me as a San Fran sort of place where sitting up high is going to suck enough to negate any price savings. At this point, I'm looking for the cheapest ticket I can get. If any others are in the same boat, speak up so we can go in on a group of tix.

Copy that, Jordan.

I am thinking if we could get 2 price options ($78 & $140-$150) then individuals can determine which seats they would prefer and our guy can get us tickets in blocks of four in each of those two price ranges/sections.

We will stay on top of it and get it figured out with time. Will be fun!

AGAIN GUYS-----we are starting to talk game tickets and prices so the sooner you can finalize with number of game attendees the better for planning purposes.

I'm down the road in SA and nobody bothered to point out to me that this was a thing? Jeez, no love. Regardless, gonna look into some options, here.

Can someone provide me some logistics on game finish and catching a flight. I am looking at Frontier airlines and the flight leaves at 6:50 pm. I see the trip from the stadium to the airport will be 30 to 45 mins. I will have to be at the counter at least 1hr and 15 mins prior to departure. I am planning to bring my son who is little, so can I finish the game and take this flight? My son will also be with me for the game. (long story, negotiating with wife) I hate to leave early from the game. If someone can respond to this, I can book my tickets and confirm accordingly.

Don't take this as definitive, but I travel likely as frequently as anyone here, and, based on what you have described would not worry about it in the least. Assume the game ends between 3& 3:30. Assume out of the stadium by 4. Assume on your way to airport by 4:30. Assume arrival at airport by 5:30. No sweat.

The only thing I would think is a variable would be game day traffic between stadium and airport. Ask a local.

Paging HoustonHawk.

I see, I am a little confused on the game time, is it 1:00 pm Eastern time, so it will be 12 pm local time Houston (CT), correct. I was of the impression it starts at 1:00. If its 12:00, I am not worried and book by tickets right away.

Oh, I'm aware I'm blaming you guys for my not paying attention. :D

Looking at ticket prices compared to when fall tuition is due... I might have to take the option of getting a parking ticket and listening to the game on the radio, heh.

Hell, I'll have my car -- Might have to briefly set up the Trav Flatt Seattle Shuttle Service company.
