Did anyone else notice Russell's helmet in Atlanta game?

There were no ear holes cut out of the helmet. I wonder whose idea it was to go that route. It seems like a smart thing to do when going into a loud venue. I think we'll see several opposing QBs do that when they go to Seattle this coming season.

One of the neat features of the Russell Wilson 3000 is that it a built-in wireless network interface in its motherboard which makes communication from distances much easier, especially in games with lots of crowd noise. It also negates the need of the expensive holes cut on the sides of helmets.

I never noticed that, but I can see what you're talking about after looking at pictures.

I would assume they're trying to make sure he'll be able to hear the calls in a loud environment.

They cover up the ear holes so that there is less noise interference with the microphones in the helmet when a QB is trying tom receive a play call. They usually do that to the QBs helmets in domes as they tend to create more noise than that generated in outdoor stadiums,,,,well except in Seattle.
