The only good thing to come out of that jersey, is that they stand out at the games when fans wear them. The blue and white just tend to blend into the background.

It's most notable when teams with primary colors come in to play (Cards/Niners/Packers). The blue is just too muted/neutral to really contrast to the eye.

The old Seahawk blue stood out famously.

They were trying to draw attention away from how bad that team was. Everyone focused on the ugly neon green jersey and not the crap product on the field.

Matt Flynn is set to make about same $ as Matt Hasselbeck. Raiders want Flynn to take pay cut. Shows how they see him.

A pay cut will certainly help a team up against a salary cap and set to carry over $38 million in dead cap after Palmer is cut. I think it speaks more to the situation the Raiders are trying to work thru.

How whiny would this board be if on SNF in 2013, the Hawks roll out those green uni's for "throwback" night?

Hell, I think its a great idea now, just to watch the meltdown.

He most likely won't which means either we keep him or Seattle re-works the contract to eat more money. I just don't see us eating much more money without it being a worthless trade since at the end of the day we still need to sign a backup.

Third option is Oakland gives up on this attempt :). Seriously you don't get a starting qb for under $5.25 million I am really surprised about this "not worth the money". He is $5.25million this year AND it is "only" $2 million guaranteed next year for a guy that you think is a starting qb. Compare that to what they just paid for the guy that failed and this is minimal risk and doesn't put them in jeopardy long term

That sounds logical...except the Raiders don't use logic when making trades and will probably treat Flynn like he has won a SB with the compensation they give up for him.

I was attempting to be facetious because at this point nobody actually knows what the trade details are, but the media is making conjectures.

As was pointed out. The reason I said a 5th this year is because the Raiders don't have a 5th.

I think I may have failed, miserably. I'm a bad troll.

I personally love the green in every form and fashion, but I'm not gonna cry about it if they never wear them again. The meltdown if they did, however, would be probably the most epic in .NET history. I would take full days off of work just so I could give it my full attention.

Then the 3rd game of the preseason put me over the edge.....seeing him pout further confirmed my thoughts/feelings about the guy. Glad to see we can get some value from him.

  • How quickly some of you forget the coin toss call in Chicago THAT CHANGED THE COURSE OF THE ENTIRE SEASON!

Seriously though, wish him the best if the deal goes through. He looked very invested during the comeback in Atlanta and protected the team in the media (rule #1) through the entire year.

  • I have nothing but a tip of the hat to Flynn. I think he went on an emotional rollercoaster. Nobody really thought Wilson would succeed to the degree that he did here. Flynn was banking on a starting job only to end up #2. I think he handled himself well.

Whether he stays here or goes elsewhere, I wish him all the best and will personally root for him in games I seem him compete in (as long as it isn't against us).

No, not when you consider how often and how his remarks aimed at disparaging anyone elses intentions to showing any kind of support for bringing Flynn to Seattle, and honestly?, it was/is getting tiresome listening to someone put down the Value that Schneider has for Flynn.
I feel safe in saying that if it came down to picking sides on A debate between he and JS, take a guess at how many here would jump on the Tsizzle wagon :16:

Exactly. A few times where he didn't look happy, who cares? As long as he's not causing problems in the locker room or making any negative public statements about it, and I've seen neither. Some people just want to hate him, I think.

I'd love to see him go to some non-NFC West team and lead them to the playoffs every year. I think he's got what it takes to be a good QB. (I didn't say great.)

  • It was quite upsetting watching Flynn on the sidelines after he was beat out of the starting spot. A less "pouty" teammate would have been walking around zapping his mates with one of those buzzer rings and secreting whoopee cushions on the bench. I don't recall seeing him making any of those twisty balloon sculptures, either. Not a once. The guy was clearly a bad teammate and worse....a bad egg.

  • Apparently people don't know how the human psyche works. Flynn comes to a new team expecting to finally get the chance to start after sitting behind the best QB in the league, and runs straight into a legend in the making in his rookie year. Now he is supposed to just sit on the bench like a good little guy while the time he has left to start in this league slowly ticks away. Give me a break

  • On a more serious note: The Raiders were paying Palmer 13 mil a year but they expect to pay Flynn 10 mil less?? That is ridiculous and Flynn's agent should definitely hold out for the same as what he was getting with us (or close). Especially since (barring anything crazy), Flynn will likely get the top spot in Oakland. I don't see a QB in this draft more (immediately) NFL ready than Matt Flynn. And Palmer? WTF is he thinking? 10 mil has been offered to that chump and he's passing? I would call Palmer a has been, except he never was. He had 2 good seasons, should have retired but the Raiders saved his ass from the scrap pile. This is how he shows his gratitude?

Exactly. All things considered, I think Flynn represented both his self and the team very well. On more than once occasion I witnessed him walk over to congratulate Wilson and it was actually RW that sorta' brushed him off. Not saying anything bad about RW, I don't know the dynamics of that relationship, but Flynn did make an effort. He's being compared to the likes of Scottie Pippen in here and I just never saw that. I wish him success.

  • Looks like a couple people that seem to be pretty knowledgeable are guessing a 6th this year and a conditional 4th or 5th next season. If it ends up being something similar to that I am happy.

While it would be great to have a starting caliber QB to backup Wilson if trading him means we can pick up someone else to make the team better this year and/or allows us to lockup Kam I think it is a win. Sure there is a risk wilson gets hurt and whoever we get to back him up isn't as good as Flynn but there is also a risk that if we keep flynn we might not be able to upgrade another position or resign Kam.

Why spend 7 million on a backup that if the season goes well never sees the field at an important time when we can use that money elsewhere.

Plus knowing our FO they will probably turn those 2 picks into a future star RT and WILL.

  • We should see what the Vikes will take for Joe Webb. I think he'd be an awesome fit and great understudy to Wilson.

I know it would be shortsighted of me since he is a decent prospect, but it would be really had for me to get excited about Webb after watching him in that playoff game. He was SO BAD.

  • Joe Webb made Christian Ponder look like a good QB. Pass.

No question. He was thrown to the lions, didn't do well and looked unprepared. But some of that has to go on the coaches. He is athletic and has a cannon arm. A VERY poor man's Russell Wilson and while I believe he can be coached up, I'd hope for him to never see significant playing time. I hope for no back up to see significant playing time (on this team). ;)

  • I am amazed at what some folks think we can get for Flynn when there is next to nothing for a market for him.

    Sounds about right.

And regarding the earlier post by someone else... I wouldn't say Flynn looked 'pouty' last year. He had the standard expression of a backup quarterback. Kind of wanted to be out there, but knew there was no chance the way Wilson was playing. The $10m guaranteed to hold a clipboard probably soothed the pain.

Well, if you were hoping for Romo.....

Ponder IS a good QB compared to Webb. I am suggesting a cheap serviceable back up, that has some upside, in the extreme event he may be needed. BTW, I know several Vike fans that would rather see Webb than Ponder. But they are wrong too.

Well said. We praise calmness in quarterbacks, but somehow Flynn gets bashed for not being a fake, smiley cheerleader. I hear Tim Tebow can be had pretty cheap.
