  • Beastquake is currently #1 out of all the options in votes. It has 32,000 while second place (the immaculate reception) has 30,000. If there is one thing .net is truly great at, it's stuffing the ballot box.

  • I havent gone over to vote, but another reason for the large numbe rof votes for Beastquake is that it happened recently. The immaculate reception happened a long time ago, n alot of these voters werent even born yet.

I'm surprised nobody responded to this post! That was one soul-crushing defeat for the Saints. While we were going insane, Saints fans were kicking in their TV's and punching holes in their walls! I'd feel bad for him, but we've been suffering through shit like that play going against us for decades... Hey, kinda like the Saints!

LOL, we were livid at my friend's house. I mean every attempted tackle was just horrible form. After the third one I was thinking, "****, SOMEONE JUST FALL IN FRONT OF HIM OR SOMETHING!" I was really upset with the celebratory nut-grab but I've since moved on from that; it's actually my favorite celebration to do on Madden online now, LOL. Me and my friend joke about it every now and then how Tracy fell down from the stiff arm.

There's actually a video on YouTube that showcases stuff teams' fans say and the guy that makes them teamed with a guy from New Orleans to do a Saints one. At one point, they're talking about how no one on our defense can tackle and one dude says something about Tracy Porter and the other guy goes, "Tracy Porter, he's STILL falling to this day from that stiff arm from Marshawn Lynch!" It makes me LOL.

LOL, shut up! But yeah, it's painful but I think if we wouldn't have been down to our 3rd and 4th string RB's we might've had a better shot at winning that game. The 49er play-off game from 2011 is much more of a nightmare though. I mean, we had that game won. If Gregg Williams had not gone rogue, we would've absolutely thrashed the Giants in the Dome, then steamrolled the Patriots in Indianapolis for the Super Bowl. **** Vernon Davis and Gregg Williams. :49ersmall:

The Romobobble I think. Like you said, the beast mode was a long drawn out cheer so fans were a little gassed at the peak. Romobobble was an explosion.

LOL, and that's another thing. I mean, the "Beastquake" run was already against the Saints, did they really have to put it against the "River City Relay" in the first round of the bracket? C'mon man! Another conspiracy the NFL hates the Saints. :thfight7:

I think had Carney not missed the ****ing EXTRA POINT after the RCR, and we'd gone into OT and won, it'd be a bit of a closer contest. That was another heartbreaking moment right there. HE MISSES THE EXTRA POINT AFTER ALL THAT.

Haha, it would if I were an Auburn fan, but I'm for the Tide (whom Bo changed his mind from to go to Auburn... ).

  • I htink Lynch will make the final, all the other strong candidates are on the other side of the tree. And what is the deal with the catch? its 3rd and 3, montana throws from his backfoot to a guy who jumps a little and catches it almost standing still... WHAT.. THE...F..CK? there is on average a play in EVERY NFL game that is more amazing than the catch...

  • Unfortunately the poll is now a joke. The Giants' fans have given Tyree an overwhelming number of votes overnight - it is now a grudge match between the Eagles and the Giants. The Giants do not want the "greatest" play to be attributed to their team's incompetency during the game - when they completely collapsed. Tyree all of a sudden has over 123,000 votes - more than double the amount Lynch has. It is meaningless.

    3 30 2013

    Lynch comfortably ahead 20715
    Music City Miracle 7539

The way that it's shaping up will have Lynch vs Tyree's catch in SB. That's not good.

Tyree 77349 votes right now vs Youngs TD run 29577

We are gonna have to put in OT if we want Lynch to move on...

It is a macro.. We use them to capacity test websites at my employer. There are tons of free browser bots, but I wouldn't set one up, that's just just wrong on so many levels.

I'm actually planning to start using a testing automation plugin for Chrome this fall for the weekly awards. It's utterly stupid that the NFL allows unlimited voting for all this crap, and I want to help put a stop to it by abusing it. I hope you'll join me. 8)

  • LOL!!!!

Based on the numbers if the voting stopped 4/3/2013 at midnight, it would take 35 people to vote every second, 24 hours a day, non-stop for the 4 day period allowed to make the nearly 10 million votes for the Steve Young run.

Their website couldn't even handle it. I tested it for 500 loops with two users hitting it once every two seconds and it started timing out badly.

Something just aint "right" with that right there. So don't bother placing your vote, it is rigged.

  • Well, since the other thread was closed, can someone please add a link to the Madden contest for RW to the first post and maybe edit the thread title too? http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/feature ... cid=google

The other thread also talked about the Madden contest. This one only talks about the "best play" contest, yet the other thread was closed. Sigh...

Does it count a vote if you "click" on the check mark? I am very frustrated cause I want to vote for Beast.

  • This vote is a joke. The fact that the Immaculate reception got beat out by A TACKLE is absurd.

It also goes to show the age of most of the voters... It's looking like Jackson's punt return will win it all. To say that that is the greatest play in NFL history is beyond laughable.

  • 60niners, where do you think Beastquake ranks? I think it's #1, but not because I'm a homer. Here's what I posted on the Seahawks Google+ post when they posted about it:

"The other 7 plays all involved a fair measure of luck in terms of the ball bounce, or placement, or other teammates. Beast Mode basically did this single-handedly, shedding 4,372 blocks on his run to victory. That's why he deserves to win."

  • I don't know that I'd be able to pin it down. I do know that this league is OLD.... and to say that the top 4 plays are from within the last 15 years or so is a bit nearsighted.

Personally I thought the bestmode play was amazing. I remember rooting for Seattle in that game because the NFC West wasn't getting any love and I wanted one of our teams to win. I also rooted for AZ in the Super Bowl. I do not, however, believe that it is the greatest play of all time.

To say that is to say that, out of ever single play from the early 1900's and what-not, out of every single one play, millions by now, to say that the run is the best of all of that? I don't think I can quantify it like that.

  • I agree about the last 15 years thing being a joke for the 4 best, but name a play where one single player put forth as much effort as Lynch did on the Beastquake run. (Serious question, because I want to see it if there is one.)

  • Well it's going to sound homerish, you could argue that Garrison Hearst's 96 yard TD run was just as beasty...

But I won't take anything away from Lynch's run, I too thought it was awesome.

  • Dudes... the vote is a indeed a joke.

Please.. The rate of the Steve Young run vote is going at over 200 votes per second. I thought it was a great run at all, but 200 people a second?

You're right, that does sound homerish, lol. He got touched by about 3 people, compared to 7 or 8 for Lynch, and on kick-off returns everyone starts off looking for people to block and the returner has the whole field to start with; hardly comparable to a run.

That wasn't a good video, it was a run, from the 4 yard line, on the first series in overtime. Two stiff arms, and some good blocking. Nobody goes untouched for 96 yards though.

But I didn't post here to try to promote the Hearst run... It was just applicable to the question. Even if my 31 year old memory cannot recall a one run that was as mighty in the eyes of Seahawk fans (lol) as Lynch's run, doesn't mean that one does not exist. Hell, you can watch any Jim Brown highlight and watch him run over half of the opposing team.

  • It seems very obvious that someone is hacking votes for the Steve Young play. He had tens of thousands of votes in the previous rounds but in the most recent round before facing Lynch he got 12.5 million votes. His vote total increased by 30,000% in that previous round. Yeah, nothing fishy about that.

FWIW, if someone is going to win via hack, I'm glad it's that play. That would have had my vote if I wasn't rooting for Lynch. I think the Beast mode run went as far as it deserved to. It's too bad it wasn't in the other bracket where a leaping tackle made the penultimate round.
