In both playoff games against Washington and Atlanta, he was very terrible against the run.

Teams will figure out that they have to run where Irvin was playing, just like how the Seahawks went after Aldon Smith in the 49ers game when Justin Smith was out.

hate to play devil's advocate but you'd expect multidimensions from a 1st round pick

8 sacks for a rookie is pretty darn good.

Not worried about him, but I hope he's able to add some weight without losing much speed.

Yep, if he was a top 10 pick. People here seem to be very knee jerk, they like to call rookies bust and not let them adjust to the NFL (cough cough Unger). Irvin had a nice year, and will only get better.

we knew he was raw and not ready to be THE MAN yet. If he would have excelled, it would have been a welcome surprise...not the expectation.

He's fine for now.

Why should we be worried? It was no secret that Irvin was getting by on his athleticism in college, and that he's pretty one-dimensional for now. He's got plenty of time to develop his game, but as he does (and until he does), he can be a specialist who isn't required to stop the run - just pin his ears back and rush the QB.

Mario Williams didnt set the world on fire in his rookie season either.

Only Chicken Little is worried about Bruce at this point.

I'm sure Quinn will try helping Bruce diversify his rush.

If not there's plenty of other options on the squad now.

i think our FO is smart enough to coach him and get him improved quickly. Look what we have 2 very capable short term stop the gap DE. Bruce can definitely learn how to play game from Cliff and Michael.

Maybe he needs to add some pounds? He's like what 248, looks like 220 lbs.
