Still, if Lynch misses games, I think we'll be in trouble with Washington on the RB depth chart. Perhaps they plan on using Harvin on the ground as well. havent you ever heard of Robert Turbin ?

Ted Ginn is also gonna test the FA market http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2013/3/6/40 ... nt-profile

Leon helps bigtime with field position.
Besides, why would we want to take a weapon we traded for that we need to stretch the field, and throw him into kick returns to assure he gets hurt and does not produce for us? Especially considering the guy has a history of injuries.
No thank you. We need him on passing downs. I agree 100%. Leon Washington was a top 3 returner last year. I get that this board is hyped for Percy Harvin but there is so many questions. Leon Washington is underrated imo.

I would hate to see Leon go. He's a class act and a key special teams performer. He's also very tight with the guys in the locker room and is a favorite of his teammates.
But with that said, on paper it makes all the sense in the world to see what you can get for him.

Yeah, having the Turbine isn't going to help if Lynch misses games to injury or a conviction in his court case. Washington is little threat running the ball and is advanced in age. So depending on him to be a number two back behind Turbin is unreaslistic. There is a reason to carry a 3rd down back capable of shouldering a #2 back load, else the running game falters with Lynch gone. This is why most teams carry a KR specialist among the WRs or DBs where the depth pool is larger to protect them in case of injury.

I think it depends on what Harvins number is and how much more they spend in FA to sign a DL.

Seattle resurrected his marketability.

I hope not, but I see him as gone. Haven't they announced that he is available, trying to get something rather than just cutting him?
Leon brings value beyond his on the field play, though that is very good. He is a leader in the locker room and an enthusiastic one on the sidelines.

Leon was 3rd in the NFL last year in KO return average. I've said it before, but it's hard to justify trying to get the top two guys, or expecting a rookie to come in, and beat the 3rd guy who's already on your team.
We have bigger holes, and guys making more money to worry about. Leon will stay this year at least.
If he's only a return specialist next year, maybe they restructure him, but even at 3.5 million, he's not that expensive for what he brings to the team.
Any speculation after this year is going to be contingent upon how much money we give Harvin.
