So right now we are going into next year with LEO's of Bruce Irvin and a hurt Clemon's coming off an ACL injury who we have no idea when he will be back to close to full strength. Irvin, in time might end up being a 3 own LEO but I sure as hell am not willing to bank a possible super bowl season on him being our full time starter at LEO. We need to bring in a LEO in free agency in some fashion whether it be a half season stop gap till Clemons gets healthy or a potential full time LEO for a year. As far as the draft goes I want us to take the best player available that has the biggest impact day 1 on this team. If we don't bring in a LEO in FA at all we will have to spend our first or second pick on a LEO unless of course Pete thinks Bruce is really to be a 3 down, well rounded LEO.

I think Bruce may be able to get to the point where he is a full time LEO but I see the position as bringing 3 things to the table. Those three things are pass rush, run defense and pass protection. Just going off what we have seen he is really only above average at one of the 3. Pass rush obviously. Our starting LEO needs to have at least 2 of those 3 qualities. Again, I am just not willing to bank this coming season on an unproven 3 down LEO and a mid to late round pick in the draft.

I love Irvin, BUT, he ain't going to get it done all by his lonesome, it's going to take an upgrade on the D-Line if we want to see him reach his potential sooner, rather than later, and I trust that Pete Carroll and John Schneider already have plans to address this in either FA's or the Draft.

Yes . . . But Aldon Smith and Justin Smith don't play the same position, do they? Which is exactly my point.

People doubting Irvin remind me of fans who called Browner garbage after the stealer game early last year. Players can and do play better with experience. Fans thought similar things about max Unger his first few years. People doubted Russell okung until this year. Irvin is by no means perfect, but it's ridiculous to me that people can convince themselves that he can't improve.

Is this the ghost of Aaron curry?

I agree that we need a pass rushing three tech but they don't have one in the draft every year and most of the good ones are choosen later in the draft and developed. Defensive line is one of the hardest postitions for college players to pick up quick mario williams is a good example of the time it can take. the only real d lineman that did'nt have a learning curve had the last name suh that i can remember. the seahawks also have some young talent that did okay last year ( Scruggs, Irvin) they have to add more talent on the d line but they dont' need to force a pick i think they should pick the best pass rusher available and hopefully that player is either Richardson or Carradine.
