As long as the term Microfracture isn't included now days they come back, problem is it's year two that you see the explosion again.

Never heard of an unsuccessful surgery on these..

Me neither. I guess most of us just assume it will be successful at this point.

Sloppy field in DC cost us a chance at the NFC championship in my view; good to hear it was succesful but they need to address the terrible field conditions and protect these players.

Excuses. We had something like 3 sacks in the previous 3 games with Clemons in there.

It would be kind of funny if Clem filed a lawsuit against Dan Snyder. I'd laugh my head off. Especially if he isn't able to return to full speed next year and loses his job because of it. How is this different than a slip and fall at work on improperly maintained sidewalks. I understand it is football and people get hurt, but it seems quite clear to everybody that it would NOT have happened if the field had been in appropriate shape/maintained properly (just like a company being responsible for shoveling their walks and putting up the "wet floor" signs after mopping). I didn't see any signs that said "warning, unplayable field conditions may lead to severe ligament damage."

We were gashed on the ground in the Falcons game with little or no pressure on Matt Ryan; healthy Clemons could have provided better defense that's all.

I dont think there is any denying that healthy clems is a really good at stopping the run.

This is a true statement. I simply don't think it's the reason we lost the game. I'll leave you alone about it though. :thirishdrinkers:

He'll be 33 next year and who knows how effective he'll be...and if he'll even be ready by the time the season starts.

Good to hear. Hope he doesn't rush his recovery, even if it means we start the first few games without him next year. Want him to be healthy for the Super Bowl run.

Crap I never thought about that. He is aging. Mid 30's is well past a Defensive End's prime. However, Clemons has not slowed much at all. He was the team's sack leader at 32 years of age. Lets just hope this injury doesn't slow him down and that his age allows him two more quality seasons.

Clemons is not as beat up as Patrick Kerney was. So I think Clem could play to about 35. Maybe 36, depending on how well he takes care of his body when he's off the field. Either way, you can't expect the guy to perform like a 25-29 year old [the average male's physical prime]. Three or four years past your physical prime may not seem like much, but it is when you're a starting DE in the NFL. Clemons has been playing in the NFL for a decade now (going on his 11th season I believe). If we get two more 10+ sack seasons out of him, i'll be happy. By then we should have a good replacement.

Red Bryant is 29 (turns 29 in April). So he's at the end of his prime. Looks like we have to find two solid DE's pretty soon. On top of a pass rushing DT. Brandon Mebane and Alan Branch are both 28 years old. Not old, but not young either. I didn't realize how old our defensive line was until I actually looked up their ages.

Adrian Peterson disagrees (eight months). Yes AP is a freak of nature, but with the techniques done now in surgery and the quality of the rehab specialists Clem will have access to I'd bet he'll be full go (speed, cutting, etc) by November of next season, and possibly before. Wouldn't be surprised to see him start the season on the PUP list and miss the first six games of the year though.

Yup. I expect a healthy dose of D-line draft picks this year in the earlier rounds, especially now that Quinn is on board. Time to re-stock the cupboard.

No offense to the surgeon, but the surgery won't be deemed "successful" until we see Clemons running around next year with no setbacks.
