  • Been with us 6 years. Anyone think this guy would be a big loss? Honestly I have no idea what he does, other than the fact he is a part of our front office and does some work with the salary cap.

  • I think he's a bean counter type, someone who should be pretty easy to replace. So long as we retain our talent scouts, I am not worried.
Feel free to contact me if you need legal assistance. I have a great lawyer that helped me with an ex who violated my privacy and kept harassing me on MySpace and Facebook. He's very good. And there is legal precedent. - linuxpro

  • He is much more than just a bean counter. A very smart and personal man. We have heard very little in the way of ugly contract negotiations or cap problems since John arrived in Seattle.

He is also very active in player evaluations.

With Seattle, Idzik oversees player negotiations, the team’s compliance with the NFL salary cap, player personnel transactions, all football operations budgets, staff and team contracts, team travel and most aspects of the day-to-day football operations while also remaining active in player evaluations. In addition, he serves as the club’s primary liaison to the NFL Office and represents the club at League meetings.

He is the Contract specialist, the guy that manipulates the salary cap.

  • When John Schneider first came on-board, early organizational projections had John Idzik at the same level as JS. He now reports to Schneider. He came from the Cardinals in 2006 probably to replace Reinfeldt after he moved on to the Titans. The Seahawks have done some pretty team friendly deals in regard to cost and protection, so I think he is good at helping to manage the cap. Good on him that he also was active in these other areas. It makes him that much more valuable.

Not sure I would want to take on the Jets and have to keep Ryan but this is what these guys strive for. Hope he chooses wisely. Good for him if he gets hired on by them.

  • Hope we have someone who has been learning under him who can step up. He seems to be doing a good job after reading the stuff that he does.

Sounds like he's gone now too. This is really to bad, as he apparently is our "Cap Specialist" and could have really used his expertise in the next coming few years.
