KJR: Chris Clemons - torn ACL?

The Essential Online Seahawks Fan Forum Community. There simply is NO substitute. RATING: PG-13
  • Although it won’t get as much attention as the injury suffered by Robert Griffin III, the Seahawks are also concerned on Sunday night about a knee injury suffered by a key player.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll acknowledged after the game that the team is worried about the injury suffered by defensive end Chris Clemons, who started all 16 games during the regular season and led the team with 11.5 sacks. Carroll said Clemons will have an MRI back in Seattle on Monday.

A league source told PFT’s Darin Gantt that there’s fear Clemons has an ACL injury.

So the Seahawks will have to cross their fingers and await Monday’s MRI results, hoping that their top pass rusher will be available to them as they move forward in the playoffs.

Wow huge loss. Irvin replaces Clemons and Scruggs replaces Irvin, right?

  • Hope Chris comes out okay, he made huge plays in this game. My guess is Ray Edwards is on a plane to Seattle right now though.

  • Very concerned about this going forward this year AND looking to the start of next year. Devastating loss if true. He's the most underrated player on this defense and easily our best pure pass rusher.

  • Devastating loss if true. Looks like he's out for the rest of the playoffs even if wasn't a complete tear. We're playing a non-mobile QB too in Matt Ryan so he would've been a definite factor. O well, as Pete preaches, next man up.

  • While I think this sucks and I really want Clem out there, ready to go, I think Bruce is going to do just fine in replacing him, and he was drafted to be his eventual replacement anyway, was he not?

    Bruce looked great today.

Still, positive thoughts for Clem.. hope he's ok he's just been a beast for us.

Sun Jan 06, 2013 6:34 pm
  • Sorry no link.

I just heard on the radio 950 KJR that Clemins agent fears a torn ACL.
Wont know for sure until tomorrow when they run tests.

If its true... I hope BRUUUUCE Irvin has his game face on in ATL next week!

Yep, agent said he got his foot caught in the grass. Having a billion-dollar owner not upkeep the field conditions should be UNACCEPTABLE in a league that says it values its players' health.

We've got pass rushers, I'd be more worried about run defense and dropping into coverage. Scruggs and Irvin are both good pass rushers.

Edit: Maybe now we'll see more safety blitzes, it usually seems to work OK.

Clemons had a hell of a season, and I love the gay. Look at this as a chance for one of the kids to shine, and earn his wings.

  • Snyder has already gotten what he deserved by being a slimeball money grubbing owner -- additional injury to his franchise quarterback, and the third loss in a row in the playoffs to the Seahawks.

I mean, if he wants to cripple his fast fast team by making them play on a crappy sod field that slows the game down, be my guest. It's stupid, but it's his call.

Well said, Bocci. Someone needs to do a study on this shit field. Just read it's where Adrian Peterson blew out his knee, as well. The league should force them to change it.

Hope Clem is ok, and hope nothing serious for RG3 (would have been rooting for them if we didn't play them)

Remember the old days when turf was blowing out knees, now it seems like it is grass...weird

I walked and could even jog (no cutting) after both of my ACL tears. The pain is minimal too, few nerve endings in the ligament. Still requires graft and surgery for even maintaining quality of life, let alone football.

That's because Bradley woke up and started being more aggressive when Clem went down. He brought Kam one time and Johnson another time. You don't have to blitz every play, but there needs to be the threat of it at least. Irvin seemed to pick it up at as well.
