Uh, dude, the 49ers were the first team to use the pistol in the NFL. They used it because Kaepernick's coach in college invented it. And if you've paid attention even a little, you'd know that the 49ers use read option as well.

If we are scoring touchdowns everytime we have the ball it really doesn't matter what offense the redskins run.

Kearly, that goes against the DC narrative that the Redskins offense is completely unique and no one else does anything like it.

Completely ignoring that the zone running schemes Shanahan has been using for two decades and the Seahawks run essentially the same scheme, that the Niners and Seahawks run read option and pistol schemes and anything else that could lead to anyone getting the impression that maybe, just maybe the Seahawks defense won't be completely befuddled by what they see on Sunday.

Like I said go back and watch that game. If you did youd see that the 9ers did NOTHING at all resembling what the Skins do outside of lining up in the Pistol for 1 Zone/Read play (that went for a first down) and several straight dropback passes. They never used PA out of the Pistol nor ran anything else out of it. Out of their first 23 plays, just after it was 21-0, exactly 6 were run out of the Pistol formation. 1 Zone Read (give), 1 Draw, 3 Dropback passes, and 1 screen.

Running a handful of plays out of the Pistol form doesnt make it the Skins offense. But you guys will see this come Sunday.

Thats interesting comparing the last blowouts by the 1940 Bears to the current Seahawks team. We have a better defense than Redskins and thats why we're blowing out teams rather than the Skins.

Here's another one that give a great idea of how the Skins O puts defenses in conflict.

Interesting article, thanks for the link.

Oh by the way, if you read it all the way to the end, it says this:

Carroll, who learned at the feet of legendary NFL defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin, believes in an attacking, downhill 4-3 Under. Kiffin originally developed the defense to defend option attacks while he was at the University of Nebraska before he and Tony Dungy refined it with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to deal with the West Coast Offense. The strength of the defense is not only its simplicity, but also its flexibility.

That flexibility will certainly be required against the Redskins’ varied approach, but fortunately for Carroll, he not only knows his defense — he has the players to run it. Chris Clemons, Richard Sherman and a returning Brandon Browner each have the physical dominance to make well-designed schemes look ugly, but the most important player for Seattle is one arguably more dynamic than Griffin or Morris: Earl Thomas.

To match up with teams like the Redskins, whose quarterback is a threat to both run and throw, the safety must be able to both play deep (as he would against a traditional pro-style passing quarterback like Brady or Manning), and to play up at the line (as he would against an old-school triple team like old Nebraska squads). Fortunately for Carroll, Earl Thomas might be able to do it all, and the combination of his playmaking ability with big, physical corners like Sherman and Browner have me convinced that Carroll and the Seahawks have the recipe to deal with Washington.

RGIII throws a lot of screens. We have physical CBs than can fight off of blocks. You aint sending 1 guy to block Browner.

Our FS has the most range of any safety in the NFL. We can play single high safety, lock up your 2 WRs (you see, the Skins run the most 2 WR routes in the NFL this year), and still deal with the run game.

The NFL is about individual matchups. The read option stresses certain defensive positions, taking guys out of position so you can combo block other guys in the play downfield. The good thing for the Hawks is that we have multiple players on defense that win individual matchups most of the time.

I still think it's going to be a good game, but I see us winning this one.

The best defense the Redskins have beaten this year? The Eagles...congrats.

Stop making it sound like no one in the NFL can stop RG3, he hasn't faced anyone at all this year.

And yet you guys lost to [eidt] three teams who are bottoms in the league in scoring.....congrats. The Skins are top 5 in points for a reason. The only reason they didnt win 11+ is because of their porous defense.

If your D shuts us down i'll be highly surprised and will be the first in here to congratulate you guys. Love your confidence tho :D

The Seahawks had one of the toughest strengths-of-schedule in the league despite those three games, and not once were we ever more than one play away in those losses.
