Just thought this was a good comparison since people are calling him the "kid". Both will go down as Seattle icons forevarrrrr

As much as I respect and love griffey. Griffey never really worked hard. He had so much natural talent that he didn't need to work as hard to play as well as he did.

Edgar Martinez was the true superstar of those Mariner teams. RW is more like Edgar.

He'd make a good Ichiro, too

Don't even start that crap. Ichiro was/is a me-first player who happened to hit a lot of singles.

Wilson is already 100 times the athlete Ichiro ever was.

This comparison between two vastly different sports from men of vastly different backgrounds is regretable.

RW will eclipse Griffey as an icon in this town before it's all over.

All he needs is a championship!

I actually like the Ichiro comparison. Both small guys for their profession. Niether was given much of a chance to succeed at the next level. Both have not only succeeded but provided awe and entertainment to fans sorely in need and have done so with National (international) admiration. Call Ichiro a "me first" player, but that does not diminish his talent nor accomplishments.
