I thought his comments on the defense were pretty interesting. Many of us fans should keep it in mind while watching the D give up the short passing game.
(Cliff notes: RW is now Dilfer's favorite player in the league.... Gus Bradley and PC have been doing a great job making up for a lot of personnel deficiencies with scheme. They are willing to give up short passing and FG's to prevent the big play... by design ) http://mynorthwest.com/?nid=577&a=9950217&p=1007&n=December+21%2C+2012+-+Hour%3A+3

We gave up too many short dump offs over the middle to them last game. That kept drives going and plays into their style of football. It wears down our defense. Linebackers and safeties gonna have to bring their A game.

Yes, could have been more if Browner didn't pick that one off in the end zone. Point is, we need 3 and outs, and the ball back to our offense. Not long sustained drives, by giving up short dump offs on 3rd down that wear out our defense.

Not long sustained drives, by giving up short dump offs on 3rd down that wear out our defense. We've allowed fewer points this year (218) than anyone except San Francisco. We're 3rd best in passing yards allowed per game (197.6). We're tied for fewest receiving touchdowns in the league (13), meaning that those horrible long dink-and-dunk touchdown drives are happening, on average, only once a game.

This podcast is incredible. Mind-expanding to hear Dilfer speak casually and intellectually about our team, the game of football and the game this Sunday. Its neither playerspeak, coachspeak, nor announcerspeak. he is actually conveying information... Much to be learned in there. Boosting up the 12th Man was pretty cool, too.
