  • Dang! I'm not surprised he got poached.

Question though, is he a DE or a S? Because I've seen him listed both ways.

  • The team has him listed on their roster page as a FS. He's 6'2" -210 so I doubt he's a DE.

  • Thanks Kitsap, this situation seems a tad odd.

It is curious to me that with just one TE healthy he hasn’t been activated so it must be a situation where there is some debate as to which player will get released to allow Dickson to be added.

This position group once thought to be strong and deep is not so anymore.

Your post clears up my thoinking on who will be playing NCB. This could mean we will see Blair as FS as well.

  • Probably better pay than working at Target or some similar job. It'd not surprise he has a part time job that allows him to do this.

Nothing wrong with wanting to chase the dream as there is a shot of him finally hooking up with a team and making enough to give him a head start on the rest of his life.

  • Tyrone Swoopes still has a chance to upstage his sister!! Not that it's high on his list, but it's a thing.
Just wait, and Swoopes will go all Chris Matthews for us in a playoff game. Book it!

  • What the heck actually happened with the Ed Dickson IR return situation, and did the Seahawks lose one of their opportunities to bring a guy back off IR by that fiasco?

  • They can bring one more guy back .... they changed the rules a couple years ago. Pocic will be active in a couple of weeks.

    Answer: Yes!

Dickson was believed to be healthy enough to return but his knee was unable to survive a week of full go at practice. As a result the team did lose one of the 2 IRr opportunities available to them by bringing Dickson back. His knee must be a very poor shape (bone on bone) to cause this to occur and I suspect he's done here in Seattle now as they can't pay him what his salary is to do nothing except continuously be on IR. I suspect he will be given the rest the year to see if he can recover and if not will not pass his physical in the spring and will be released like Baldwin was this season.

Pocic was their last shot opportunity for a player to return the team has designated him for return on the 28th of Nov.

Recall Turner in the pre-season and thought he had potential, he ran hard.

  • Thanks, I am sometimes seemingly slow to update when there is no official source reporting the roster moves b/c you can get burned by inaccurate reporting, especially around UDFA time and when there there are expected pending moves. Your sources are always impeccable. :irishdrinkers: :2thumbs:

  • Numerous sources are regrettably reporting that WR- Josh Gordon is suspended indefinitely for again breaching the banned substances rules. This player is very talented with huge problem as far as drugs of abuse. For him it's likely only weed but still he knows he can't do it and apparently tested positive. Sadly he didn't last long here before this suspension.

    This doesn't help the team.

  • Absolutely does not help the team.
But IMO there is too much we don't yet know re the when, what, etc of the infraction in question to make a final judgement and/or write the guy off long term.

  • Totally!

However, we do need to wonder why he'd put himself in this position knowing he'd be tested and would likely get caught.

To me the situation is very sad as there is little doubt the player has exceptional talent but many demons., and the demons won again.

  • Watson, a seventh-round pick out of Florida State in 2010, has played for six teams during his career, most recently spending the past two years with the San Francisco 49ers. When the Seahawks signed Watson earlier this year, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said the hope was that Watson could add something to the pass rush while also contributing on special teams.

“We’re hoping to give him a chance to give us some rush on the edge,” Carroll said. “He has been a really accomplished teams guy, too. He can give us some additional boost there.”
In addition to signing Watson, the Seahawks also made an addition to their practice squad, signing rookie linebacker Sutton Smith, a sixth-round pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers out of Northern Illinois. Smith, who has spent time on the practice squads of both Pittsburgh and Jacksonville this season, was the Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Year and an All-American in 2017 after leading the nation in tackles for loss with 29.5 to go along with 14 sacks. Last season Smith recorded 15 sacks, 26.5 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles.https://www.seahawks.com/news/seahawks-sign-linebacker-dekoda-watson

Josh Gordan is of course suspended.

How disappointing the timing of this suspension is to the team. Fortunately the team has a capable young player in Mone to replace Woods.

  • Numerous sources are reporting the Seahawks have re-signed RBs- Marshawn Lynch and Robert Turbin to the team after placing Chris Carson and CJ Prosise on IR. This has a feel of desperation to it in a truly desperate situation, but if nothing else returns a fan favourite in Lynch. It's back to the future for two old workhorses.

I have to think the team is far from being finished here with roster moves as there are other options out there that may be helpful depthwise. It looks to be a situation where their experience on the roster gave them a leg up on other possibilities.

Although there is no official source about these two additions I will add them anyway.
