Seven others as alternates:

Chris Carson, defensive end Frank Clark, return specialist Tyler Lockett, safety Bradley McDougald, guard J.R. Sweezy, quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker K.J. Wright.

Dunno, feels a little snubby to me. I can't remember the last time we had only two players going to the Pro Bowl as first ballot.

J.R Sweezy an alternative? An offensive lineman? It is a miracle!

Clearly Wright got selected as an alternate based on name recognition. Hasn't played enough this year to legitimately earn it.

Pro bowl voting kinda sucks; KJ is one of my favorite Hawks but does he deserve any votes? Does Reed deserve it more than Cox or Hicks? I think he does. It really doesnt mean much the way its voted.

Rodgers got in off Name alone. Goff is also not having a better year than Russell.

Such a shame

I also can't remember the last time we lost 5 pro bowlers in 1 year either. ;)

KJ as a possible pro bowler is bogus. The guy has barely played and when he did he only played well in half the games. Lockett as a returner? He has been very good as a deep threat receiver but I don't even remember a big play he has made as a returner this year -- they must be desperate. Sweezy as a pro bowl guard is stretching it too -- he has been above average but not all star. Then again, naming more pro-bowlers (ie alternates) because the real all stars are still playing football is so ridiculous. The "All Pro" moniker is the only one that really matters as those guys are the elites at their positions.

Agreed peers and coaches select them.

I think it's clear the Pro Bowl voting is a joke. Guys getting in on name recognition or past contributions alone. That's lame. It needs to be restructured if there's any chance for anyone to really take it seriously.

I know it's a nice little ego thing for the players but there needs to be reform to make it more legitimate and serious like the All Pro rankings. Enough with these oddball votes that make literally no sense (no offense KJ Wright, but even you are likely saying WTH?).

HorseShart.

They need to make fan voting for informational purposes only. Or, Mail trophies to the most popular players, let writers/coaches pick best players.

Nice to see McDougald get a little recognition as an alternate for his contributions this year. Still, having just 2 guys named to the squad from a likely playoff team seems odd. The Cowpukes got 5, Vikings 4, even the Jets and Giants 3 each.
