  • We should all just take a moment to reflect on how dramatic our lives would be right now if it weren't for Mr. Allen and his actions saving the Seahawks 20+ years ago. I know personally I've developed massive friendships during that time because of Hawks, and met tons of great people since the Hawks almost left for Cali.

Mr. Allen, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. We never met, but your passing is a very sad thing for me, as it is for countless others who never got the chance to thank you personally. They say you die twice: once when your heart stops, and again when somebody mentions your name for the very last time. Because of that second part you will likely live on forever here in the Northwest.

    RIP Mr. Allen. RIP.

  • I think there was an article that detailed how some players didn't really know him. He was so hands off, and preferred to not be in the spotlight. Honestly, the last last image of Allen at a football game was his reaction to Kearse's catch in SB 49. He was in his suite in shock.

He will be missed. And I hate to ask, but who now becomes the sole owner?

  • RIP and thanks to Mr. Allen.

I was at his first game as owner, a 34( or so)-0 loss to the Jets. But it was at the Kingdome. The Seahawks were still in Seattle.

What a time it has been since then.

True hero and philanthropist. And loved sports like we do.

  • Not often the death of a famous person affects me, but I honestly am tearful today. Paul saved the Seahawks. Paul made sure we were a competitive team always striving for the Lombardi trophy. Paul got us the FO that eventually accomplished the task.
And that's probably the least of his accomplishments.

To a life well-lived and over too soon. RIP Paul Allen and condolences to all affected by his death.

Sir...because of your many gifts to the medical research community, many people are still alive and thousands more..owe a debt to your frequent monetary gifts that can not be repaid outside a sincere thank you.

    Godspeed Sir, and thank you.

I'm praying for the Allen family tonight, and all those influenced by his life and legacy. May we all show our respect to him by living more like this caring and compassionate individual!

Thank you for your impact on mankind and countless generations that will feel your impact with your philanthropy extending the life and providing a light for those in the dark.

Thank you for your forever kind spirit and desire to make your community, the City of Seattle, and the entire Pacific Northwest a better place.

On behalf of all 12s, both gone, current and future, thank you for being the hero the Seahawks needed to stay in Seattle and flourish to become Super Bowl Champions. The Seahawks would not have raised the Lombardi trophy without you, Kenny Easley wouldn't have returned, and Seattle would not have the Seahawks without you.

May you forever Rest In Peace and your legacy to make the world a better place continue to live on.

I'd love to see a life-sized bronze statue of him holding up the Lombardi inside the stadium - maybe the North entrance walkway area in front of the steps. I'm sure the organization will come up with a fitting tribute of some kind.

Not only was he a great person but I was actually very proud that he was our owner. Not all NFL teams or fans can say that. You will be missed boss but you are in a better place now.

  • What a shocking and sudden announcement of awful news.

We knew his Lymphoma had returned and he was a fighter who had beat it before. This is just terrible news. A Titan in so many areas taken from us too soon.

I am forever grateful to Paul Allen who saved my Seahawks from a fate like that of the Sonics. My only wish was he rather than the jerk from Starbucks had owned the Sonics instead of the Trailblazers, Seattle would still have Roundball team instead of ever other corner Starbucks franchises, much as I like their coffee.

Better still was the Paul Allen who loved his community, was generous in his philanthropy, and a omnivor for various interesting projects being blesssed with deep pockets which had resulted from his exceptional tech wizardry.

I don’t know that he can ever be replaced as being the best owner ever in the whole league. money was little concern and he left the footballl decisions to those who knew what they were doing instead of meddling he assisted in the development of a really talented staff and encouraged them to do all they could to bring Seattle a winning team in a tremendous facility designed for real football played outside with the loudest fans of any team.

What a disastrous loss to the Seahawks and to us fans of the Seahawks.

Rest In Peace Paul, watch over your team which you kept for us all. God bless you, and thank you!
Until we develop a pass rush that will cause opposing teams to be forced to scheme to defend it we will never be able to consistently take the final step. The interior rush needs improvement. The OLine clearly still needs work.

Super Bowl XLVIII Champions at last after 38 seasons. Awesome!!!

  • Not long woken up and was just checking out NFL.com and it said "Paul Allen had a major impact as Seahawks owner" and I'm like that's a nice story and then it was WAIT? WHAT?

No words yet. Absolutely thrown by this.

Would love to see the Seahawks retire either #48, or #99 in tribute. And as others have said, put that man in the Ring of Honor. THANK YOU for giving us all many more years of Seahawk football! RIP, sir.

    Great idea.

I vote retire #48 in his Honor.

I have a custom #48 that has “super bowl” on the name plate.

I say put Allen on the 48.

    Never to be worn again.

I like this and a statue with him and the lombardi right out in front for all to see..
