Anyone tempted to get younger and cheaper at punter?

I learned from Hauschka. Let's keep him around a little while longer.

He was really poor this last season though, wasn't he?

The draft class is much stronger at punter than it is at kicker, that's for sure.

Drafting a punter? :34853_doh:

If we do this, I’ll be convinced that the front office has lost their minds.

If we need the 2M to sign a more important player, I'm all for cutting Ryan.

He wasn't just mediocre last year, he was downright terrible. No reason to continue to pay him like a top 10 punter if he's not going to punt like it.

As much as Ryan is a fan fave I agree with this. If we're cutting declining vets to save dollars a punter should be an easy cut

I say give him one more year, this time with decent punt coverage, and then decide.

I don't usually but kept an eye on it this year given the obvious need at kicker and potential need at punter :)

I think people are just looking at punts based on how far they travel

Ryan had a couple last year that clearly stated that he can punt as far or further than anybody in this league

His mostly short punts were in my OPINION coaching decisions. He is not allowed to outpunt the coverage team especially when we weren't sure how good they would be......

When you have a offense that isn't doing well and a defense in transition a good punter can mask a lot of problems.

Keep him. He wasn't nearly as bad as some suggest.

He was playing with mediocre support as much as RW was.

He has another season maybe two left in the tank.
