Who do we sign at RB this week?

  • Okay I am 100 percent convinced now more than ever the coaching staff dropped the ball on the selection of our roster RB's. Everyone kept blaming the o line for our running woes. Well guess what...Carson and Davis have shown they can find the gaps and have good up the field vision to get the job done. Losing Davis was huge last night. Mckissic is a gimmick guy and as much as I like him wherever he gets touched he goes down in that spot.

So we need a RB desperately as it is obvious Davis will be out for a while. Anyone know of any guys out there worth signing? Perhaps from a practice squad? I am all for cutting Rawls and Lacy. These guy simply put are hot steaming garbage. Rawls gets way too much love on this site and excuses are always made for him well last night proved he is terrible and not deserving of a roster spot here. Lacy...thats too easy...his career is over. Mr Glass is also finished here thank god...too many injuries and apparently zero upside when he was healthy this year.

I think the best plan at this point is to cut the fat man and Rawls right now and take a flier on someone else until Davis or hopefully even Carson gets back.

    Is there anyone out there?

  • You're asking the question wrong.

You should be asking what free agent running back wants to sustain an injury in their first 10 carries.

  • Dude... Lacy with 3 carries for 2 yards. What an absolute waste of a free agent signing. Could've used that money to sign Big Whit instead of Joeckel or make a better offer to TJ Lang. I can't think of anyone who is out there. Our RBs are either hurt or ineffective. Awful luck with injuries this season.

  • Rashad Jennings? Khiry Robinson?

Seems like we should be scrubbing the bottom of the barrel right now, given how poorly Lacy and Rawls have been running the ball. Davis looked good until he got hurt.

That dude is always in great shape. Why the hell not? Might as well release Lacy, who doesn't seem mentally checked in.

That's how desperate I am for a new RB. I would be excited if we signed a guy who had -3 yards last season.

There is no p-squad running back after Davis was promoted and then injured.

  • Looking ahead, I really like Carson and Davis. But for the now, this team needs a runner who will come in and grind.

Brian Hill was plucked from Atlanta's PS by Cincinnati. I was hoping for awhile that the Hawks would pick him up. A size/speed back who's best comparison is Latavius Murray, he was a 5th round pick from Wyoming last year.

Now for a realistic option, I'd like to see Jeremy McNichols end up here. Another 5th rounder by Tampa Bay last year out of Boise State. Bucs let him go after final cutdowns, and he's now on San Francisco's PS. I really don't trust anything the Bucs do. They're on Miami's level as far as incompetence goes. Look him up. Young kid with fresh legs who was a workhorse at Boise.

  • Whoever it is, it would be wise to sign someone whom you don't care about their long term health. Every back we've tried this year has gotten destroyed and injured behind this piss poor oline except McKissic.

  • How bad is Rawls, as he is available and we are not even talking about him. We just let go Freeney, why cant we let go of Lacy too. He is garbage. I think Lacy has to go down as one the Seahawk worst pick-ups ever. Total waste of money and roster spot.

Good call, I just went through every team's practice squad roster and I thought McNichols was the most intriguing option. Fitzgerald Touissant (Steelers) and John Crockett (Raiders) could be decent pickups as well.

  • Russell Wilson is currently our best running back. Colin Kapernick is a similar runner, and is arguably close to Russell as as scrambler. Their speed in the 40 was almost identical: he, Mariota, and Russell were inches different in the 40.

I heard a rumor that Kap was available, but turned down the 900K that Pete offered him for backup quarterback.

I am just having fun thinking outside of the box. With a second running qb, they could toss the ball back and forth and really spread the defenses. Just imagine having to deal with two running Russells at once. Trick plays galore. Perhaps not trick, but maybe exotic.

Not neeed, Lacy is doing just fine on his own.

What a total waste of cap, and a roster spot. If his deal wasn’t guaranteed he’d be long gone
Until we develop a pass rush that will cause opposing teams to be forced to scheme to defend it we will never be able to consistently take the final step. The interior rush needs improvement. The OLine clearly still needs work.

A Wilson/Barkley duo would be alright ;) . It's supposed to be another deep draft for RB's, so it's possible there'll be some good ones a bit later as well and they come away with two studs to go along with Carson, Prosise, McKissic. Was never too big on taking RB's early but after this season that's changed.

  • Rather than worry about FA running backs next year, I think we should change offensive line coaches and see if another scheme or teaching method can help this group. The local media keeps talking about how great Cable is but we are consistently one of the worst blocking units in football. I think the current stable of backs, including Carson next season, will be fine if we can get a reasonable jump in oline production.

Uhhhhh there are a lot of people in this organization that I would show the door long before Schneider, he may swing and miss on some free agents, but I assure you he ya hit home runs ln waaaaaay more things then he hasn’t

  • I think an overlooked aspect of why the running game has been limited, could it be bad coaching?

Sherman Smith is not the RB coach anymore.

I always thought Sherman Smith was an underrated coach.

    Thoughts?

  • Herschel Walker is 55 and does 1500 pushups and 2000 sit-ups a day. He eats 1 meal a day of salad and soup, sleeps just 5 hours a night and could still kick half this team's ass. He went 2-0 in MMA fighting just 6 years ago. I would take him over Lacy right now.

Otherwise, better hope Davis gets healthy and get creative with the usage of McKissic.

$4 million down the drain. When we show Lacy the door, tell Schneider to walk through it too.

Schneider might be more important to this team then Russell Wilson

Sherman Smith is not the RB coach anymore.

I always thought Sherman Smith was an underrated coach.

    Thoughts?

I too question letting him take a hike.
To Add...McKissic all by himself ain't going to fare too well, and I'm thinking that's probably why they activated Moore from the PS.
He'd played RB in HS, and both RB & WR in College...Sound familiar?
I'm thinking that there's a damned good reason that Teams utilize an experienced RB Coach, and I would think that I would think that Tom Cable has WAY MORE than enough on his plate just getting the O-Line to function better than near bottom of the League without adding RB Coach to his workload.
