I only come up with 52 for Maelstrom ... pssst, you're missing Bennett.

No way they cut Kearse or go with 7 DL. Also I have a feeling they go with fewer strict LBs and more SS's, due to their move towards 4-2-5. They went with 5 LBs last year.

QB: Wilson, Kaepernick (I have a bad feeling about this, so it'll probably happen)
HB: Lacy, Rawls, Prosise, Carson
FB: Brown
WR: Baldwin, Lockett, Kearse, PRich, Darboh, Moore
TE: Graham, Willson, Vannett
T: Fant, Joeckel
G/T/w/e: Aboushi, Pocic, Glowinski, Ifedi, Roos, Odhiambo
C: Britt, Hunt

DT: Reed, Jefferson, Jones, Rubin
DE: Avril, Clark, Bennett, McDowell, Marsh
LB: Wagner, Wright, Brown, Wilhoite, KPL
S: Thomas, Chancellor, Hill, Thompson, McDougald
CB: Sherm, Quill, Lane, Tyson, Elliott (Shead PUP)

Along, this line. If your 53 doesn't have 8 defensive linemen and 10 offensive linemen you need to redo it. Someone above posted that the team would only carry 3 DT's that has NEVER happened with a 4-3 team at the NFL level.

Thanks Sdog1981. That was me...I inadvertently forgot about Rubin. I fixed it. Since Shead will most likely start on PUP and won't count against the roster initially.

I could be wrong but I don't think that Boykins is eligible for PS anymore. He was active for too many games last year.
Checked that I was wrong. They changed the rules last season. They can add 4 players who have accrued up to 2 seasons of football. So it seems that Boykins is eligible for PS but I don't believe he'll back due to his off-field issues. He's a moron who wasted his golden opportunity. Got arrested twice in span of 11 days....even Josh Gordon isn't that stupid. For a position that requires good decision-making and judgment, this doesn't bode in his favor.

Cottom was recently waived Pandion. Of course, he could always be brought back.

Whoops. That's why there's 52. Must've counted him in my mind but never typed it out.

What kind of odds are you offering on the 10 OL prediction?

I agree with this list. In my mind, the 53rd comes down to the winner between Collins and Carson. If Jordan plays like a beast, Kearse may be gone.

Edit:. I really like the Desir and Thorpe picks. And I think Boykin will b backup QB.

Version 2.0

This went hard mode with so many exciting players to choose from and losing McDowell changes up the depth needs at DL.

The only way my roster works is with a trade or I saw my self carrying trying to decide between 6 RBs, 6 WRs, 12 DBs.

Although if I wait a month im sure we'll lose players to injuries or a faux medical red-shirt. But can't really project that.

So let's get that trade out of the way...which I alluded to in my first post... So its not really a big surprise.

Jermaine Kearse + Jeremy Lane

To Tampa Bay For

Clinton McDonald + 2018 4th Round pick (for eating those SB).

Why it works? Seahawks need an interior pass-rush presence over 280 pounds. With McDowell and Jordan both looking doubtful, Seahawks probably lost both plan A and plan C, respectively, for thier vision.

McDonald provides a solid option that is both experienced and familiar within the system.

Tampa Bay could use more competition at the 3 and 4 spots behind Evans and Jackson at WR. Kearse would help solidify thier depth much more there than he would here.

Lane is the centerpiece of the trade, and why Seahawks net the 4th rounder. Despite a sub-par 2016, Lane in whole has been a pretty solid and versatile DB overall. TB has promise in Heargreaves but will rely on 34 year old Brent Grimes and a flurry of lesser known, unproven players. Lane provides experience and versatility and will strengthen thier DB corps.

Seahawks would save 4.2m against the cap this season with taking on McDonald's contract. But Kearse and Lane would cost 4.3m in 2018. So if they don't utilize that cap, they can just roll it over to kind of break even (Although they don't really in whole).

53-Man Roster

QB: Wilson, Boykins
RB: Lacy, Rawls, Carson
XB: Prosise, McKissic
FB: Reece

WR: Baldwin, Lockett, Darboh
WR: Richardson, McEvoy,
TE: Graham, Willson, Vannett

LT: Fant, Joeckel
LG: Odhiambo
OC: Britt, Hunt
RG: Aboushi, Glowinski
RT: Ifedi, Procic

2 QB
6 RB
5 WR
3 TE
9 OL

25 Total Offensive Players

9-- DL
6-- LB
10 DB
3-- ST (Ryan, Walsh, Ott)

25 Total Defensive Players

RDE: Bennett, Clark
3T: Rubin, McDonald, Jefferson
NT: Reed, Jones
LDE: Avril, Marsh

SLB: Morgan, Alexander
MLB: Wagner, Wilhoite
WLB: Wright, McDonald

RCB: Griffin, Thorpe, Desir
LCB: Sherman, Elliot
NCB: McDougald
FS: Thomas, Thompson
SS: Chancellor, Hill

PUP: Shead, McDowell

Practice Squad (just filling names, this is a viotile section with the Seahawks rotating players in and out as needed)

RB: Collins
WR: Grayson
WR: Moore
WR: Lawler
TE:
OL: Roos
OL: Myers
DL:
LB:
DB: Tyson

Overall, this would be a pretty great roster. We are light at WR but both Prosise and McKissic can take snaps there both having former WR experience. I chose to keep McKissic for that very reason as he's the closest thing on roster to Prosise, and that he has history of being a exceptional returner in college and in Pre-Season for ATL last year. Falcon fans were bummed when their team didn't keep McKissic on roster that I remember but he was a WR to RB conversion project that probably needed time to grow into his new position and develop his body.

I really like McKissic, probably one of the few on here that love his potential. With Prosise being an uncertainty to stay healthy, it's nice to have another player who can fill that role.

Carson over Collins was hard, but I chose the guy most similar to Lacy and Rawls. Physical backs that can churn through contact.

Oline and Dline is cut and dry.

The LB corps looks weird to me but those SAMbackers are more STers than defensive contributors considering a majority of D-snaps will be played in Nickel.

As for DBs, the hardest part was losing Lane, as he seems like the only experienced NCB option. However, Seahawks have grown these players in the past in Thurmond, Maxwell, Lane, and Shead.

And I feel McDougald as the talent thrive there as a player similar to Maxwell, and him being a very solid Safety being able to play both spots would allow the Defense play to matchups at slot. I.e. if Seahawks are facing a high flight burner, Thomas and McDougald swap. If a monster WR or TE is in slot, McDougald and Chancellor swap. It would create some much needed unpredictability against opposing defenses. Just a new wrinkle that could net positive results.

This will allow time for one of the other CBs to grow in that position and perhaps buy time until Shead comes back, who could provide depth inside at NCB as well.

I like the idea of a trade to account for the loss of McDowell, just don't see Jeremy Lane being that sacrificial lamb to bring said McDowell replacement over here. I know Lane was straight ass a year ago, but with Shead likely not on the way back until Week 6 at the earliest (ACL injuries also take time for the player to get trust back in how they move after a knee injury) that makes Jeremy Lane so much more important to us.

Unless Shaq Griffin or one of our raw CB prospects we've been keeping on the scout team stashed away for a couple of seasons really emerges in the preseason as someone we could count on, I think Lane has to be on this final 53 no matter what.

Kearse will have no value in any trade. He'll also be on the 53. If for anything, again, we will need warm bodies on the roster in the event Richardson is hurt again or Lockett doesn't recover quickly. Or just an entirely new injury emerges.

I don't think Lane and Kearse will be Seahawks in 2018.. but I would be shocked if they're not on this roster when we are preparing to go face the Packers.

I don't see this team giving up on Kearse and Lane after a bad year. Too much team loyalty there.

I'm going to approach this by considering WR/RB a combined pool, given that we have a couple guys who blur the line there. Carson and McKissic, specifically. They're both exciting, but still unknown quantities, so I went with Carson by a hair given that he's one of "their guys", rather than McKissic even though he might have value as a backup returner.

QB- Wilson, Boykin
RB- Lacy, Rawls, Prosise, Collins, Carson
FB- Reece
TE - Graham, Wilson, Vannett
WR - Baldwin, Lockett, Richardson, Kearse, Darboh
OL- Fant, Joeckel, Britt, Pocic, Ifedi, Odhiambo, Glowinski, Aboushi, Hunt, Roos

DL- Avril, Bennett, Clark, Reed, Jones, Jefferson, Marsh, Rubin, Smith
LB- Wright, Wagner, Garvin, Morgan, Alexander
S- Thomas, Chancellor, MacDougald, Thompson, Hill
CB- Sherman, Lane, Griffin, Thorpe, Elliott
P- Ryan

MontganaHawk05 looks like you have 52 so you can add JD Mckissic or maybe Whilhote (LB) - I think he makes it. With CJ Prosise and JD Mckissic could we sneak Darboh on PS ?

Anyways I would switch out Roos for Hunt and add Whilhote. Somehow I want JD Mckissic maybe Carson or Collins can sneak on PS . I also think we will see McFadden make week 1 and Reece after to save on vet guarantee of salary

I don't think there is any way Mckissic makes it over Carson. He has been the star of camp.
