Not one screen, not one draw

when the opposing team is firing off the ball and constantly getting pressure, maybe you want to at least try to keep them off balance and slow them down with some RB screens and draws? Terrible game plan by bevel today.

And no, bubble screens do not count

Go ahead and blame Bevell. Those guys were fast and we did not have much luck getting to the outside. OUr Oline lost it for us.

They weren't blitzing though. Sitting back in zone most of the game. No reason to call a screen in those situations.

I'm not blaming bevell. the oline, and partially Wilson, were the problems today.

With that said, he could have done more to try and slow down their pass rush

Screens take time to develop. This O line made it impossible to call any successful plays at all. And even when Russel was throwing he was way off today. We made a bad defense look like world beaters.

I always love the calls for a screen.

You do realise one of the single most important aspects of a RB screen is the OL getting off a block and then blocking downfield? Getting YAC?

The OL today were getting their arses handed to them. There was a DL in the backfield virtually every snap. Dumping the ball off short to the RB would've likely just led to a very easy and simple tackle for a loss.

It works best vs the blitz. TB weren't winning with the blitz -- they were winning rushing four!

An O-line featuring three rookies got their arses kicked today. We move on to Carolina.

I saw two legitimate attempts at a screen today before shutting the game off and they netted about 1 yard.

Tampa played lights out tonight......Carolina took a tough loss in Oaktown....

11-4-1 should get the 2 seed....home game vs a Detroit or Atlanta type of team....

Win the 3 remaining home games gets Seattle to 10 wins....win at SF is 11.....only question is whether Seattle wins at Green Bay....

12-3-1 would be a great season.....

Clearly we are missing Bennett, Thomas and dare I say it, Prosise is a huge loss...if all 3 are back for the playoffs mixed with Britt, Shead and the biggest question is RT....Sowell or Gilliam.....

Yes, it was 4 man rush all day and they were getting to Russ without getting touched.

And BTW, we lucked out with a midget Qb, please don't use that midget Center again!!!!!!!!!

I would have loved to see Bevell call up a draw. Russell would have been hit before he could have made the handoff. What about the performance of the OL could possibly make you think a delayed handoff would have been effective?

Not one RB on the roster that is a "3rd down" type catch the ball back. We tried it once with Rawls. Didn't work out so well.

And screens are usually good with teams that are bringing extra guys. The tampa was whipping us with their front 4 and then dropping the rest. So there were plenty of bodies back there to sniff out the screen/draw

I counted three WR screens, but hey who's counting when you have an agenda to complain about.

The op specifically called for RB screens not bubble screens.

Which brings up an interesting dilema regarding the Bubble screens. When they work (hello UW in the apple cup) they are demoralizing to the D. But it seems like they just never work for the hawks for whatever reason, so then its 2nd and 10 plus.

NFL defenses are fast and the corners can tackle.

We've had plenty of success with bubble screens in the past, with all three WR's..............but like any screen it requires perfect blocking and execution, of which we had none of yesterday.

Especially by the O-line. They couldn't even pass off simple stunt rushers, and the OP wanted more complex screens and draw blocking that requires for them to be on their man for even longer?

You need good blocking by the WR's downfield but some of you are right it just hasnt worked much here and continuing to call those plays in hopes that something will change is just weird.
