Looked to me like he could have easily picked up the first down, but he hesitated. Can anyone confirm?

Looked like RW was trying to hold on to the ball

To be honest, Lynch didn't look as good today as he usually does.

what hole....there were many blue shirts in front of him. The OL decided to call it a day.

When we only needed to pick up a half yard, he doesn't really need a hole. Just plow forward. The moment he hesitated we had no chance.

I don't think he had enough carries to get into any kind of rhythm. This was his first time running in a game since the Super Bowl (minus a couple carries in the 3rd preseason game). There were plenty of opportunities to get him the ball on first and second downs . . . and for the most part, it just didn't happen.

Our record in games where Lynch gets fewer than 20 carries is extremely poor.

He tried to bounce outside, but nobody blocked anybody so there was not much he could do.

I kind of thought the same, fought hard but didn't look as sharp. That said, run blocking seemed to have regressed some.

No hole
St Louis blew right by us, and earned that stop and the win

That playcall was just Bevell giving everyone what they have been asking for.

Then he should have run it on 3rd down when we had a chance . . . or run it out of an I-formation with a freaking lead blocker.

Why is Tukuafu being paid if he is not going to be used?

I think Lynch was expecting Wilson to keep the ball since there was room to pick up the first down on the outside. Lynch tried to cut back after the hand off and ran into the right tackle.

This offense will have to get better or this season is going to be on a downward trajectory. That's everyone Wilson wasn't great today and made some bad decisions that hurt us the read option has to be part of this offense .

Yes, Russell shoulda kept it. Lynch agreed, and was taken aback since Russ had daylight.
