If Slater clears waivers he could be added to IR if the team wanted to keep him. If his injury is shorter term we might see him back later in the season.

"these arent the droids you looking for...

Move along"

He's getting the redshirt year, so we can figure out if any of our previously injured dline works out and we have a replacement for when we start losing Mebane and Mcdaniel.

I'm glad we secured this guy on IR. 4.95 forty, 31 bench, 35.5" vert, 10'03" broad. Prototypical three technique size at 6'5, 285 pounds. He had nine sacks in his final six collegiate games to go along with 16.5 tackles for loss for the season. With another year to rehab and develop, they might have found a diamond in the rough.

STRENGTHS
Quick-twitch lineman with plus athletic traits. Had vertical and broad jump explosiveness equal to some receivers at his pro day. Bursts out of stance and has explosive closing speed when chasing the ball. Upper body strength on tape is equal to his 31 bench reps. Has quickness to play in gaps or cause problems with E/T twists and has strength to 2-gap when asked.
WEAKNESSES
Basic pass rusher relying on brute force and athleticism. Needs time to sharpen pass rush technique. One-year wonder against low level of competition. Inconsistent with hands at point of attack. Can be slow disengage from blockers once then get into his framework.

Anybody know what his injury was, and whether it was serious and requires surgery? I agree, that if it's just a pulled muscle or something minor, then this is probably a way for the Seahawks to "redshirt" him for a year while he hangs around the facility and increases his strength, etc.
