Lane needs knee surgery too.

This is bad news. Walter Thurmond, anyone?

They do have Marcus Burley to develop in the slot, and he looked pretty damn good without much prep time.

3 low cost FA names to keep an eye on:

1. Walter Thurmond
2. Charles Tillman
3. Tarrell Brown

All three can play that inside-outside role.

And keep an eye on Brandon Browner, I could totally see him being a cap casualty if Patriots want to sign Revis long-term and re-sign McCourty.

Pats dont have a lot of holes, could see them trade up to secure a talent like Marcus Peters or another top end CB that slips.

Come early September we are going to be thin, depth-wise.

Hopefully our schedule doesn't start like last years... GB, SD and then Denver... all before our week 4 bye.

I wish Brady never threw that ball right to Lane.

We already have to draft one or two corners, and now we're going to have to try and sign at least one, if not two FA corners.

Ain't no way we can go into camp with Simon as our starting outside DB and Burley or Shead at the slot.

I almost wanted them to bring Thurmond back, then I remembered that he played in 2.5 games over a six year span or whatever.

Thurmond isn't in a position to be asking for a long term deal with any guaranteed money. His situation is a one (maybe two) year prove it deal. He's finally healthy. If they can get a few games out of him while Lane recovers, that would be great.

Ironically his two interceptions would wind up helping him incredibly, as Lane and Avril were hurt on those plays.

That Madden Curse is a mother..

More like the SI cover curse. Of the five DBs that appeared on it, Maxwell is the only one currently healthy and he is likely gone in FA anyway. Sherm, Earl, Kam and Lane all hurt.

I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone photoshop them into braces and casts.

Wonder if it is the knee he should have taken in the end zone on that play.

We should be teaching guys to take a knee in that situation. I have had a few disagreements with friends about this point. Too many times they fail to get passed the 20. And there is always an added risk of injury or turnover when a non-ball carrier is getting tackled while carrying the football.

What the.......Damn. I don't want to sound like a jerk, but this guy seems to be pretty fragile. Hopefully Burley turns out to be real durable. I agree with the other poster in this thread that he seemed to play well with the limited amount of time to acclimate to the system last season.

It didn't help that Edledouch went for his knees on the play. I could be wrong so I will re-watch it but that is my impression form the play. That sucks. Like the broken arm wasn't enough.

Sounds like he won't be ready until mid season because of an ACL.

Do we know for a fact it's an ACL not MCL?

Gotcha, thanks. That's a serious blow to the secondary, given that Lane had enough versatility to start in the slot or play outside. Adding a 4th corner is imperative.
