  • 1st round picks are extremely valuable because you get the player for 4 years, and if he's really good, you pick up that 5th year option. And if they player tries to hold out, they get stiff penalties:

"If a team decides to use its fifth-year team option, the player can face substantial fines for refusing to report to camp on time and/or at all. Players can be fined up to $30,000 per day of training camp missed and a fine equal to one week’s regular season (1/17 of P5 Salary) check for any preseason games missed." ... und-picks/

Somebody is going to want to trade back in to the first and pick up one of the QBs still on the board. One of the teams with a less experienced front office just won't be able to stand the thought of sitting all night doing nothing when they can make a big splash and excite their fans with the last pick of the day.

I expect it to be a team that picks early and has all evening to watch people coming off the board, start getting worried and do something desperate. :D

Here's to having our first pick in the 2nd round (That is, unless someone gets desperate to pick a player ahead of Houston)

  • This seems to me a likely and desired unwinding of events.
