  • Gonna be a tougher year than usual to pick these. I expect a lot of trades in the top 7 picks and nobody has any clue who the Texans are taking #1, which will obviously effect the rest of the top 10.

    1st round prediction:

    1. Houston Texans - Jadeveon Clowney
    2. Atlanta Falcons (from St. Louis (from Washington)) - Khalil Mack
    3. Jacksonville Jaguars - Sammy Watkins
    4. Cleveland Browns - Mike Evans
    5. Oakland Raiders - Johnny Manziel
    6. St. Louis Rams (from Atlanta) - Greg Robinson
    7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Aaron Donald
    8. Minnesota Vikings - Teddy Bridgewater
    9. Buffalo Bills - Jake Matthews
    10. Dallas Cowboys (from Detroit) - Anthony Barr
    11. San Francisco 49ers (from Tennessee) - Odell Beckham
    12. New York Giants - Zack Martin
    13. St. Louis Rams - Cody Latimer
    14. Chicago Bears - Haha Clinton-Dix
    15. Miami Dolphins (from Pittsburgh) - Taylor Lewan
    16. Detroit Lions (from Dallas) - Darqueze Dennard
    17. Philadelphia Eagles (from Baltimore) - Brandin Cooks
    18. New York Jets - Eric Ebron
    19. Pittsburgh Steelers (from Miami) - Justin Gilbert
    20. Arizona Cardinals - Blake Bortles
    21. Green Bay Packers - Ryan Shazier
    22. Baltimore Ravens (from Philadelphia) - Marcus Martin
    23. Kansas City Chiefs - Marqise Lee
    24. Cincinnati Bengals - Kyle Fuller
    25. San Diego Chargers - Jason Verrett
    26. Cleveland Browns (from Indianapolis Colts) - Bradley Roby
    27. New Orleans Saints - Dee Ford
    28. Carolina Panthers - Joel Bitonio
    29. New England Patriots - Kelvin Benjamin
    30. Tennessee Titans (from San Francisco 49ers) - Kony Ealy
    31. Denver Broncos - CJ Mosely
    32. Cleveland (from Seattle Seahawks) - Derek Carr

    Seahawks may trade down again, but eventually select Donte Moncrief with their first pick. (Almost went with Davante Adams).

    Twenty names:

    Donte Moncrief, Davante Adams, Cody Latimer, Martavis Bryant, Brandon Coleman, Devin Street, Allen Robinson, Bruce Ellington, Kelvin Benjamin, Paul Richardson, Jordan Matthews, Billy Turner, Ju'Wuan James, Cyrus Kouandjio, Morgan Moses, David Yankey, Joel Bitonio, Marcus Martin, Xavier Su'a-Filo, Antonio Richardson.

    It felt that way last year, too. But, yeah... could be more trades this year. With the later submission deadline (wasn't last year 24 or 48 hours before the draft last year?), we all might know more - especially pertaining to the Texans pick.

  • I like that Cleveland trade up, Hasselbeck. With the veteran quarterbacks they now have on their roster they can afford to wait till their 2nd first round pick and move up for a QB. Much better value that way.

  • I know it's late but I procrastinate. Probably full of errors as I used Daniel Jeremiah's draft as a template:
    1 - Houston: Jadeveon Clowney - DE - South Carolina {No comment}

    2 - St. Louis: Greg Robinson - OT - Auburn {Zac Stacy running behind Greg Robinson? The run D in the NFCW better

    be ready in 2014}

    3 - Jacksonville: Sammy Watkins - WR - Clemson {No Blackmon this year, Henne would love an eliter Wide Receiver to

    throw to. Gus won't put the cart before the horse and try to select a QB who has no running game, no defense, and

    no one to throw to}

    4 - Cleveland: Blake Bortles - QB - Central Florida {I think the former Bills DC and Shanahan Jr. like the idea of

    a Big, Bruising Ball-slinger in the Cold Cleveland Climate}

    5 - Oakland: Khalil Mack - OLB - Buffalo {No Sammy Watkins? Take the BPA}

    6 - Atlanta: Jake Matthews - OT - Texas A&M {Matt Ryan will take a beating if they don't get him a new Left

    Tackle}

    7 - Tampa Bay: Mike Evans - WR - Texas A&M {Trade rumors about Glennon are a smoke screen to preserve Evans at

    Seven}

    8 - Minnesota: C.J. Mosley - ILB - Alabama {The Vikings took Sharif Floyd last year and could use some help at LB.

    I think Spielman likes to play it safe and go for big school players}

    9 - Buffalo: Aaron Donald - DT - Pittsburgh {Marcel has been charged with a felony and Donald would really help in

    getting penetration against Brady}

    10 - Detroit: Darqueze Dennard - CB - Michigan St. {Their DBs are who? They should have lots of info on Dennard}

    11 - Tennessee: Taylor Lewan - OT - Michigan {They need to get the running game going and protect the QB before

    they think about drafting one}

    12 - New York Giants: Zack Martin - OT - Notre Dame {Desperate for an OT, they take Martin}

    13 - St. Louis: Calvin Pryor - FS - Louisville {Jealous of Earl Thomas, the Rams settle for an ET/Kam Chancellor

    hybrid that covers fairly well and hits hard}

    14 - Chicago: Anthony Barr - OLB - UCLA {With Urlacher and Peppers gone, Aaron Donald gone, and AP still in the

    division, the Defense needs some help}

    15 - Pittsburgh: Eric Ebron - TE - North Carolina {Pig Pen could use an outlet receiver and a little help keeping

    him upright}

    16 - Dallas: Ra'Shede Hageman - DT - Minnesota {The Cowboys desperately need help along the defensive line and

    Jerrah has had success with small school athletes before}

    17 - Baltimore: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix - FS - Alabama {Hasean could be the replacement they've been looking for at FS}

    18 - New York Jets: Brandin Cooks - WR - Oregon St. {Ryan and Idzik know that a speedy playmaker could be the

    difference in the close games they've played vs New England}

    19 - Miami: Xavier Su'a-Filo - OG - UCLA {Early in 2013, Tannehill was sacked 14 times in 3 games. A top notch

    guard would help this mobile QB stay in the pocket}

    20 - Arizona: Morgan Moses - OT - Virginia {With Jonathan Cooper coming off a broken leg the immobile Carson

    Palmer needs protection against the rest of the NFCW}

    21 - Green Bay: Austin Seferian-Jenkins - TE - Washington {Packers need some help on the end of the line and a

    receiver, ASJ gives them both}

    22 - Philadelphia: Louis Nix III - NT - Notre Dame {Chip may be going to a 3-4 and needs a NT}

    23 - Kansas City: Marqise Lee - WR - USC {I think Andy Reid will overlook the 2013 tape and pick another West

    Coast Wide Receiver}

    24 - Cincinatti: Bradley Roby - DB - Ohio St. {With Zimmer gone, Marvin Lewis concentrates on defense and

    replenishes his injured defensive backfield}

    25 - San Diego: Surprise Pick! Kyle Van Noy - LB - BYU {Can play the run and the pass. Much better player than his

    stats show}

    26 - Cleveland: Odell Beckham - WR - LSU {To go with their new QB!}

    27 - New Orlean: Marcus Martin - C - USC {I'll go with Daniel Jeremiah on this one}

    28 - Carolina: Kelvin Benjamin - WR - Florida St. {They need a Wide Receiver and this is taking a really long

    time}

    29 - New England: Ryan Shazier - OLB - Ohio St. {To help with their ailing and aging defense. Nix is gone so...}

    30 - San Francisco: Timmy Jernigan - DL - Florida St. {Because everyone says they would take him}

    31 - Denver: Stanley Jean-Baptiste - CB - Nebraska

    32 - Seattle: Stephon Tuitt - DL - Notre Dame {I love this guy! They have to take him!}

  • 11 points, called buffalo moving up for Watkins, missed the spot. Nailed Bortles to the Jags and Manziel to the Browns, wrong spots though.

    It's such a crapshoot...

  • I count a few people with 12 points (myself included) and a couple with 11. Called Vikings taking Bridewater and Browns moving up for Johnny football. Wrong spots though. I should have left Tampa bay at #7 to take Evans instead of trading up to 5.

    It's gonna come down to the bonus picks!

  • Ah man, I know this is just for fun. But, I kid you not... my last two changes to my final mock were to swap out Kelvin Benjamin to the Panthers for the OT (just read something at the last minute about that). Also, had the EWU DT Pulu to the Hawks. Put Dominique Easley in there instead (which almost panned out as well.) So, that would have got me 3 to 5 more points. Also picked the wrong FB. I was not familiar with Kiero Small. Ah well, it was still fun.

    Go Hawks!

  • As near as I can tell, the winner was Throwdown with 13 points.
    He called Clowney, Robinson, Matthews, Evans, Mosely and Verrett, and had Paul Richardson to the Hawks in the bonus. If my math is all messed up, let me know, but I think he is our winner.

    There will be no living with him now.

  • Congratulations to Mr. Throwdown.

    It's probably too time consuming, but it would be cool to have .net draft contest winners logo's with unique designs, screen name, and the year for each year of the contest for our profiles.

    As a random act of .net kindness, we were all to throw our drafts to give you a sporting chance. Hence, we all decided behind your back that no one would project Mosley to the Ravens nor Paul Richardson to the Seahawks. Recon went rogue.

    lol, true dat. Man, you competed and still must feel a bit like the 2003 Miami Hurricanes after getting that championship taken away. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2003_Fiesta_Bowl Man, we should have a stickied thread in the draft forum in honor to each year's champion and you could have a faux wiki-page and have "the reversal" with details of the accompanying emotional distress of having your dreams dashed. ;)
