They have picks to burn, and Lattimore needs time to see the field. To me, it is a pick that makes sense, because I think Gore is starting to decline.

First...I'm new here, so I don't know all the protocol...But I will say this in the spirit of keeping your post alive and in the spirit of the post, that I think lattimore to the Seahawks makes sense because of our extra picks and if there was ever a FO that could care less about spending a pick as high as a third rounder on a player who wouldn't see the field until their second season it's this FO.

That and I have no way to verify this but I think in hindsight lattimore is going to be one of the better pickups for the team that has patience out of this draft.

I would like us to get him just so that the niners can't. That said, I think we have higher needs.

I kind of hope Lattimore does get picked by the 49ers. I was watching some of his stuff last night- I don't think he's quite the star people think he is. His burst and top gear are just average, and he runs with an upright style that seems to invite injury. He's basically a "moves" back without the speed, like a less extreme Knowshon Moreno. I watched a highlight video from his 2012 season and the two longest runs he had all year were 43 yards and 29 yards. He's a bit of a "3 yards and a cloud of dust" type. Not only do I think he'll have an solid at best NFL career, but he's exactly the kind of running back our defense would want to face twice a year.

You could make the argument that he's a little like Marshawn (based on the speed level, lateral agility, and consistency), but Lynch stays healthy and has more power. Lattimore had several serious leg injuries in previous years BEFORE his horrible ACL/PCL/LCL hat trick in 2012.

With a late round pick, who cares. Why not? But honestly, I'd rather spend a 2nd round pick on Eddie Lacy or a 3rd/4th round pick on Christine Michael than maybe a 5th on Lattimore. Both are better fits for our scheme and neither carry the extreme health risk. Since the 49ers run a similar system, I'd feel the same way if I was a 49ers fan. So in a way, I'd actually be happy if they took Lattimore given some of the excellent and safer alternatives. Especially if they end up taking him at the end of the 2nd round.

I'm not a huge fan of Marcus Lattimore, either. Runs too upright. I do like his fight and determination, but he has no balance, no center. He reminds me of a gazelle.

I sure hope he doesn't land in the NFCW (other then us) otherwise I'll be laughing at all you nay sayers every time Marcus rips off a 15 yard run on 3rd & 8. Or catches a swing pass for a 25 yard gain. He will be the most complete back in the NFL since E. Smith or W. Payton. Then you can say "he run to up right or doesn't have enough speed" of coarse I'll be laughing at you.
I think he'll be a perfect fit for any team who is "smart" enough to draft him.

I'd rather have Lattimore in the backfield next to Kaepernick then have Lamichael James and Kaep back there together.

So you're saying you think he'll be a better all around back than Adrian Peterson?

Man you never miss a chance to be a homer. I'm with you 100% though. 8)

Kendall Hunter can be a pain too.

I cant quantify why, but any back who's style isnt' Gore or Lynch "esque" doesn't scare me behind SF's OL. That's REALLY dumb, because the 49ers invested serious time and capitol into that line. But, I dont worry about LaMichelle or Kendall. Lattimore? Maybe.

Lattimore is okay, I think Bernard and maybe Knile Davis are better fits for us. I hope he gets drafted though.

No offense but you sound like a 15 year old girl who just got dumped telling a guy what he's missing out on. More complete than Ray Rice? Adrian Peterson. Come on... Even at his peak this guy was projected as a mid-late 1st rounder.

He has some nice upside but he's not a proven star, drafting guys just so San Francisco is a bit silly. We need to draft guys who help us.

15 year girl huh... attacck the post, but not the poster. I could say something mean about you, but I'm above all that. Now back to Lattimore, yes better then Rice & AD put together! I of coarse cann't prove this, but only time will tell. H.O.F.

Kearly, it sounds as though you liked Polk as a prospect better than you like Lattimore. Is that the case?

Most definitely. Polk had some of the best RB tape in 2012 (in a stronger RB class), and he wasn't the injury nightmare Lattimore is. Sounds like he fell like a rock from poor interviews and some cloudy medical evaluations.

I think Lattimore has one huge advantage though- opportunity. Teams will give him chance after chance because of his reputation. Chris Polk is on a very crowded RB roster in Philly and doesn't seem to fit Chip Kelly very well.
