Pretty solid draft but kind of safe and thus boring. I'm afraid that if we take a route like this there won't be any Lockett/Clark/Rawls guys.

I STRONGLY DISAGREE.

I believe that Bullard will fill the INT pressure void we have day 1 starter. McGovern I believe will be any of the 3 positions on our line as a starter. Ervin is a gadget scatback harvin type taht will add another explosive element to our Offense.

Lene Mavia is our backup OT/G.

Kalan Reed would be a starter @ nickel that plays with an explosive fervor and is a dynamic playmaker.

4 starters is amazing if it goes off the way I plan.

Time to do some homework. Thanks T!

Points for realism, but I'd be pretty bummed if the draft played out like that. It would be an entire draft of backups, specialists, and role players. Bullard is going to start off as a pass rush specialist, and McGovern seems like a backup who'd get eased in as a ho-hum starter down the road, similar to Mark Glowinsky.

I have nothing against McGovern, but I would be pretty unhappy if he was the first OL Seattle selected. Most teams won't value him as much as Seattle would, I'd like to see Seattle take advantage of that and get him later. Taking McGovern in round 2 feels like another Justin Britt type of move.

That said, could it happen? Absolutely.

Maiava will be available in the 7th round...no reason to waste a 3rd round pick. Get him in the 6th round :)

Mitch Matthews will go undrafted...either get him in the 7th round, or try to get him off the street after the draft :)

Edit update: Oooops, I got mixed up with the name. I had meant to say Keenan Reynolds but put in Mitch Matthews name on accident...sorry for the confusion. Reynolds is the guy that played QB but is now trying to make the draft as a RB.

With all due respect Willeye, how do you know any of that?

The same say everyone knew Bruce Irvin was a third rounder at best?

Lene Maiava wasn't even invited to the combine, so it's probably safe to say he'll be available very late.

That said, from the 4th round on I simply trust PCJS to find their guys, I don't care how conventional wisdom has them rated.

With earlier picks though, Seattle tends to draft better when they aggressively target impact players. Maybe Bullard can be that guy, but I have some doubts about him as he's a bit of a 1 trick pony.

I figured the hawks would pull a super reach somewhere so I put that in there.

Ideally would like hargrave if available but I doubt it.

I've never heard oh him, but since he is visiting Seattle, I'm going to do some research. He's on the radar, but yeah, is most likely a priority UDFA for us. But as you say . . . Who knows? We won't even have a read on his health and athleticism until mid April as he recovers from a knee scope.

Like you said, "who knows?"

On the other hand, most of Seattle's visits are given to guys they think will go undrafted so as to increase the team's odds of recruiting them.

I did a bunch of research and watched videos of Maiava and Mitchell. Mitchell was so much of a running QB (horrible passer), that he's trying to make it to the NFL as a RB. Scouts have said that he has no chance of being drafted as a QB, and that his transition to RB is not coming along very well. Maiava played Guard for most of his college career and the 2 games I watched, he was a turnstile...definitely not OT material in the NFL...most scouts say he will be lucky to be a 7th round pick, and that he will most likely be undrafted. Having said all that, Titan is probably correct...these are the kind of picks JS likes :)

Update edit: meant to say Reynolds, not Mitchell. Mitchell is a WR...i just got mixed up with the name...sorry!

To be fair, JS did trade down to get more value when he picked Irvin. I do believe that if JS had any takers, he'd have traded down further.

And by the same token, how do you know Irvin wouldn't have gone in the 3rd round if JS hadn't taken him with pick #15 in the 1st round? At the time, I kind of figured Irvin would be picked around #40.

The jets were on record saying they were picking Irvin in rd 1 right after us.

Supposedly Tony Pauline said that he thinks Lene Maiava could be a 4th round pick.

That's being a bit dismissive. It's cool if "you" think Maiava and Matthews are 7th round prospects, but making statements like "will be available" or "will go undrafted" is kind of ridiculous.

There are a few new names for me, so thanks!

Matthews is a very impressive prospect and I agree that he will probably be drafted in the middle rounds. Matthew had a very impressive Pro Day...
Height: 6-6
Weight: 222 lbs.
40 time: 4.44
Broad jump: 10' 09"
Vertical jump: 38 inches

Side note: Matthews met with the Packers at his Pro Day.

Having looked at a couple of his games, he looks like a fairly good route runner given his size. In the game against Utah St he got separation from a CB by running a nice up out-and-up route. He is very good at high pointing the ball, he looks to have good body control to catch poorly throw balls. We don't have a WR like this on our roster that has the size and speed of Matthews. He is officially on my Seahawks draft wish list. :th2thumbs:

Here he a quick video of his vertical jump...

He seems like a confident/cocky guy, so he should be a good fit in the Seahawks locker room.

I'm luke warm on the overall list but I could bang the table for Ervin,Reed & Mathews in those spots. You gotta love Mathews hand/eye coordination and his abilities as a hands catcher. The basketball video just reinforces that fact. He definitely fills a roll we lack in our WR group. Nice find!

The Jets were on record a lot more saying they wanted Coples. In fact, it was a drama-driven mediot that even mentioned that the Jets wanted Irvin. Drama, drama, drama. A lot of mediots just want attention. Irvin was off the radar for pretty much everyone because of off-field issues, namely going to jail for criminal behavior. The Hawks were highly criticized for picking Irvin in the 1st round. Irvin was a 1st round athlete, but I don't think anyone was taking him before the mid-2nd round. This is just my opinion, but just because you have a different opinion, it doesn't make mine wrong either.
