As disappointing/ridiculous as it is that Bruce Irvin's contract wont be enough to net a 3rd rounder, the Hawks are currently projected 4th (Irvin), 5th (Sweezy) and 6th (Bane) round comp picks next year. Should Okung go, you'd figure to be adding another 4th. If he stays, you'll be looking at Kearse possibly giving us a 6th.

In case anyone missed it, comp picks become tradable assets in 2017! :thirishdrinkers:

Yes, it is very exciting. We should have nine picks this year (official compensatory picks will be announced in a couple weeks at the owner's meeting).

And it looks like we will have 12 picks to work with in 2017: seven standard picks, plus four likely compensatory picks, assuming Okung and/or Kearse leave, and the undisclosed conditional pick from Carolina that we received in exchange for trading Kevin Norwood.

Hopefully the league will announce these comp, picks earlier than is presently the case as they will become part of every team's draft plans.

Oh, not tradable this 2016 draft? I thought it was. Ah well. Next year, then.

2017 figures to be a MUCH better draft and MUCH stronger FA class too.

The great front offices know this too.

I believe that they are trade-able this year.

The way these contracts are going -- we could be in real danger of getting a comp pick at all for Mebane. He's currently 28th on the list APY wise. Sweezy is 19th. With only 32 picks being awarded.

Irvin is already getting close to R5 comp range.

Maxwell's contract last year netted us a 3rd round comp. That same contract is middle of the pack 4th round this year.

Consider, last year 7m was the cutoff from 4th to 5th round. This year 7m is barely hanging on to the tail end of R5. The cutoff look like it's Mack's 9m this year (4th to 5th).

As it is, Sweezy looks like it's going to be a high 6th round comp.

How many of those contracts cancel each other out? I mean, how many losses were replaced by gains?

Looks like only two: Brandon Brooks and Mitchell Schwartz. At least looking at the Sweezy pick.
