Hi guys. My wife has a website, it has been hosted in Lycos for about 12 years, but she has had some problems recently to the point of not wanting anything to do with them. Could you recommend something please?
Depending on the traffic of your website there's a million and one hosting providers that are all around the same price and quality.
I still use GoDaddy after all these years for small clients with little traffic. They might have overloaded shared servers but good pricing and excellent customer support. If you get a lot of traffic we have used Amazon Web Services. It's not cheap but incredibly flexible (spin up instances very quickly). For dedicated Wordpress hosting I've used wpengine which was fast and had excellent customer support. I had to try them when I found a coupon for 6 months free and it was well worth it. Never pay full price for Godaddy, just search "GoDaddy promo code" and you'll find them. Found a recent one for .99 cent domains (bought like 10 haha). I've never used their dedicated hosting though.
I know plenty of people who use HostGator and have great reviews. Bluehost I used years ago for one site and didn't have any negatives to say.
I enjoy ruining threads by making them about personal attacks and then commenting about how personal attacks make the other person's argument invalid.
Need a bit more information. What sort of hosting platform are you seeking? Simple HTML or other static content? PHP5? PHP5+MySQL? Java? Something else?
Feel free to contact me if you need legal assistance. I have a great lawyer that helped me with an ex who violated my privacy and kept harassing me on MySpace and Facebook. He's very good. And there is legal precedent. - linuxpro
